Ford has announced that it will source out the engineering prowess of Mazda for it's global line of compact cars. Cars included in the plan are the Fiesta, Ikon, Ka, Fusion Ecostar, and the Mazda2. The processes used to develop the small cars will be similar to that of the new Mazda3, Volvo S40/V50 and European Ford Focus.
Ford, which owns 1/3 of Mazda, made a decision earlier to use the Mazda6 platform for 10 new midsize cars for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury.
