Good working 12v->USB adapters?

I've got three that have worked fine in all my other cars and rentals, but which aren't working in our new CX9. Since my voltmeter indicates the accessory port(s) are working fine, it would appear that the USB adapters just aren't "deep" enough.

Any specific brand/models that folks have known to work? Our 2009 CX9 worked fine with the ones we have (sadly, the OEM Bridgestones and ice mixed poorly and our original steed is now retired).

I will try and take a look at what I have in the front power outlet. Mine works great as I plug my phone in each time I get in the car.
 
I got mine from eBay.
It is a 1-to-3 splitter with extra USB port.
Each has its own push-button on/off switch.

Thanks, but mine all worked in our 2009 ... it's the 2012 that appears to be "special" in this regard
 
I got one on ebay with 3 12v's, and a powered usb port. It was like 3 bucks. but it won't power my Ipod. Seems the port does not have enough juice...it will charge my digital camera, but won't charge the Ipod for some reason. Then it blew the main fuse, so I went to RadioShack and put in a much higher rated fuse.

Word of advice, spend the few extra bucks to get a quality one.

Mostly likely the output voltage is too low.

To charge a device of X Volt, the output voltage has to be X+d volt.
Unfortunately, each device has its preset threshold of d. If d is too small, charging will not happen.
d is usually around 10% of X. If d is higher, charging is faster, but it heats up battery being charged
and the circuitry. Obviously, there is a safe limit for how high d can go.

You can do a simple test with multi-meter.
Another possibility is the output resistance is too high. When charging, the voltage drops by too much
(below the said threshold).
 
Looked at the unit in my front port and it is a Belkin Micro USB Car Charger, it has only one USB Port.
I have a couple of other units that I could plug in and see if they work, One is a double USB Port and I think the other is a single or a double port.
