Im really disapointed in my mileage. I drive like a grandma everywhere and I struggle to average 25 mpg about 60/40. When i cruise on the freeway at 70 mph my scangauge shows 23-25 mpg. WTF?

Thats normal man... I always got 24-26mpg in my old auto p5 around town. Also you cant trust those stupid gas gauge things. I had one of my friends while test driving a m3 bmw and it said i would get 48mpg!! yeah right like that would ever happen.

those gauge are measuring the mpg at an instant. you get like 10mpg at full acceleration and normal at highway and super high when you let the car roll without gas. not sure how scangauge does but it needs to measure over a long interval to be informative.

Gas Mileage After Tranny Swap

hey i was wondering if anybody has ever heard of your gas mileage dropping after a trans replacement. i have a tiptronic in my 03 protege 5 and it went out at about 95,000 miles i now have almost 120,000. since the swap i have went from an average of 28 miles to the gallon to about 21 and my driving habits or routes have not changed. Any advice would be great (uhm)
