Good compact car for under 16K?

Alright, my sister got her license last year and my rents told her she's getting a car for her 17th Bday. The only car that she has actually pointed out that she likes is the Scion xA.
What are some good ideas for a very reliable good looking car for a teenage girl?
I know y'all are gonna say MZ3, but I dont like it that much and netiher does she, so...

Mazda 3. I think it is really the best car out there for that money. Fit and finish is really good on them too.
