Since ive got the wheel purchase in motion and ive narrowed it down to finally 3 different kind of wheels, im going to drop this car at the same time. Should i go with the MS Camber plates or not? Im going to coilovers this year but i want to tighten up the suspension a bit before hand. I can always sell the springs off later.

This question was asked on Cobb's site so they went back and double checked their car. According to Cobb, you don't need any type of camber kit. Their springs only drop the car an inch, and the alignment can still be brought into factory spec without additional aftermarket parts.

When you go to the coilovers, you will probably go lower and need the bars then.

ok, i did some checking out, and it really doesn't look like the rear camber has changed with the addition of my cobb springs (which are now definitely settled). if you want details, i made a few more detailed posts about it in my How-To Springs thread, but the rear camber looks very stock right now and does not appear to require a camber link kit! =d

I got an alignment like 500 miles after putting them on...was within spec (wasnt even borderline) have probably around 8000 miles since then and tires seem to be wearing eveningly and fine

Awesome, how does the car feel with the springs on there? I take you neither one of you have done the swaybars yet?

the car feels great! :D here's some details: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3641329&postcount=2

i have the rear sway bar installed now, actually. i haven't pushed the car to its limits since the install, so i honestly can't really tell the difference between springs-only and springs+rear sways. i suspect that as far as body roll goes, i will feel a bigger effect when i put in the front sways, but i won't be doing that until it gets warmer out, cause i managed to catch the mother of all flus when i spend hours in the cold putting in my springs a few weeks ago...=/

np, mang...as far as handling mods go, i think the springs are the single best mod to get. it gives you a good amount of improvement in firmer handling, reduced body roll, and increased "plantedness"...all in one $250 mod...:D

EDIT: and reduced wheelhop!

i ran across a few reviews of the springs, all were positive except a few. I think those talking negative about it were the ones who were looking to slam there car, not necessarily looking to improve handling. Waiting to hear back from Ken and get a stage 2 kit, but he doesnt list it on his site. Would save me $60 or so than buying everything seperately. Some other sites have the kits listed but i prefer to buy from Ken.

ya, ken seems like a pretty cool guy. i got some advice from him on camber links when i was thinking i needed upgraded links, but as it turns out, our cars are really freakin negative in its camber to start with...

I had the Cobb stage 2 suspension installed a while ago, waited too long to go in for an alignment, and now the shop is telling me I NEED a camber kit. Everything I've read states that you shouldn't need one with the cobb setup.

Anyone know what the factory camber range is for a Speed3?

Rear -1.42 +/- 1
Front -.57 +/-1
In my opinion a little more negative than factory is good for grip. If you corner agressively Your tires will actually wear more evenly.

jp, what does +/-1 mean do you mean .1 or .01? Sorry, being a machine builder made me think of tolerances

I got another alignment yesterday..I'll post results. I has Cobb springs and lots of miles on them, no signs of uneven wear. Had them all off a couple days ago to get rotated and checked them all out

Are they trying to set it back to stock specs? That Tuned combo by Cobb; is to improve handling and traction and camber can be affected by spring height. You probably don't want to set up to stock Call Cobb and ask them where Camber, toe and caster should be! And then tell your shop what you want. Not everyone will set up out of factory spec. Search around for shop that is into performance. Unless you have coilovers you may not need camber links unless you want to play with rear suspension

I got a killer deal on a set of BC Coilovers, so i went that route. Ordered the adjustable rear camber plates, but still not here. When those come, im installing everything. Should make the Rota Torques standout.

Thats a lot of room to move around isnt it? 2 degrees difference? I agree about aggressive cornering and negative camber. don't shorter springs naturally create increased negative camber? thanks for help

Another BC user...nice...and hooray for the price hook ups...nothing beats paying cost...post some pics when you get em. Get a 3" hole saw before you attempt the install like i did..makes removing the top hats a cinch..worked for me and was better than using a plasma cutter like the vendor suggested ;)
