Going to AMR to get a Stage One Tune

Hello every one this wednesday i am going to AMR to get a stage one tune am so excited i be showing the dyno sheet onces the tune is complete

I can see that you're going in for a tune which is definitely a good thing but what the heck is a Stage1 tune?

I can never understand why ppl like to call them stage this and stage that...

I too wondered that until someone pointed out that Cobb calls there tunes stage 1.xxx, stage 2.xxx, etc....

I also wondered why they call the tunes in stage but the AMR call it a stage one tunes as well (dunno)

I'm just messing with ya guys, my understanding has always been:

Stage1 - mostly intake mods (SRI/CAI, BOV/BPV)
Stage2 - intake & exhaust mods (DP and/or CBE)
Stage3 - big turbo or upgraded turbo

I just don't like how ppl and tuners try to lump it into a "stage." So does that make me Stage1.5 seeing that I have most intake mods but only a RP but no DP & CBE?

companies have their own tuning "stages" so someone's stage2 might be different than someone else's stage2

if you go to the SU site they have their own version of stages

dont go to amr, I went there to get tuned and had nothing but issues

If I lived up near you guys I'd goto Akuma from that I've read. Hell, I might even go up there when I do decide to get tuned.

do it, its only what 5 hrs, and 2 tanks of gas. totally worth it IMO, bunch of us are having a bbq sometime in september so you could come to that too

After your positive comments about them, I started thinking they're the place to get tuned. I'm not ready for a tune yet. I want to go AP + Turbo back. Just not sure I want to do that before the warranty is up.

Yes, I installed a mscai this weekend.

Im in the same boat as you. 3 yrs 10 months till the warranty is up, then a tbe and fmic....depending on funding maybe a forged rebuild with a 3071. you should be somewhere around 285whp on his dyno with the tbe

Akuma just tuned a new GTR to over 700 whp

i know, johns ****** awesome. he has a gtr in the shop thats got 180k invested into it already. i think thats the one

hello sorry that i have not posted in recently but i have been bombarded by school work and had to reschedule for tomorrow sept 16 at 10 am and also i have spoken to other speed3 owner who tune there car though amr and had great results

A local guy by me is on his 2nd engine courtesy of AMR.

I thought my tune was kickass too. went from 228/262 to 265/315, sounds awesome for just an intake.

Turns out it was set at 20psi and would creep to 22 psi by redline.

he didnt scale my maf so that s*** the bed and needed to be replaced

all he did was up the requested load tables which resulted in lean condition CEL's. did a few datalogs and my afr's were in the 9's. cats went shortly after.

when i went to amr to try and get my issues sorted out he had the nerve to tell me he would have to charge me for a retune.

did a baseline pull at another tuner shop. after 1 pull i was told he wouldnt do another for fear of my car blowing up....awesome

got retuned and made 20hp/tq more than amr at 18psi.....all trims within 3%

so yea amr sucks, with mazda's anyways.

O yea one other thing. I still have not gotten my boost/afr curves for my amr tune. After being blown off for several months I gave up. And since hes not open on weekends I had to take several days off work for nothing.
