Going Forged

not tryin to be a dick or anything but if the rods in the speed3 are truly that strong as u say than how do you explain some people blowing up stock and other people blowing up with some boltons that will make the car produce around 300whp?

Yeah, It's really the whole tuning and modding aspect that makes cars pop. Think about it. A car that can take almost 16 psi stock has to have a pretty tough set of rods and bottom end.

The mazdaspeed 3 / 6 are difficult to extract power and tricky to tune because of the direct injection, ECU, the turbo / powerband and timing. Its more complicated than just saying . . . the rods are weak.

Basically this.
Direct injection- you hit a wall at around 375 WHP because the DI system cannot supply the fuel quickly enough. So basically you need another set of injectors or an expensive as hell tuning/injection system.
ECU- It takes a s***-ton of time to tune these cars saftley. The problem above can mostly contribute to this.
Powerband/Timing- see above.

So it's not the fact that the actual rods are weak. The aformentioned issues are most of the reason. For popped motors.

i actually put the car back to stock and am looking to get sumthing else. But i was gonna get pauter. And to the ppl who say it cost 5g's to build a motor. Thats b/s. the pistons these cars come with are strong, all u need to do is replace the rods rly. u can get rods for 700, and i talked to a mazda tech. guy 2day and he said hed throw rods and pistons in for 1000. so plus studs and all the other s*** u need ur lookin at maybee 2300, and ur car will be able to handle alott more.

i really hope for ne one going the cheaper route on forging their motors by buying rods and pistons and having someone put them into ur stock block without cleaning and machining it first... is taking a big risk......do it right the first time and u will be happier in the end...you don't want ne piston slap or especially an unbalanced crank...i thought about buying a used short block and going this route...but i feel it's too risky..i would rather start off on a clean slate from PG
