Yeah get on the motor mounts.
Also what about a new battery box, one that will show off an Optima battery.

If Badger comes over this weekend (hint) (Or I'll go to his place), I might be able to cast his mounts solid for him and layout dimensions for a battery box. Is there much interest in a battery box? Obviously I have to be able to do quantity to keep it affordable... so we'd have to see!

Thanks,

Steve

I'm coming over to Steve's this Sunday to work on the whole motormount issue.

We'll keep you guys updated!

Well although I've already got one, you could make dead pedals. They're cheap to make, and with some decoratively cut custom "non-skid" tape they could look pretty good.

edit: or for that matter, you could make real pedals. Sorry I can't think of much else.

The motor mounts were a bust tonight. :(

Their design makes them totally useless to fill in it seems, and an entire new peice would beed to be fabricated. I'll let Steve fill in the rest as he has a lot more technical knowledge about all this than I do.

However something did come out of all this, and that is that we will be working on making an Automatic Tranny Cooler for the 3 that will ve EASY TO MAKE and INSTALL.

This car is a total PITA to mod because of the design (too well engineered?) so we'll have to keep you all updated.

Yeah, the short version on the mounts is that your rear mount is a beast to get at and we didn't look too much at that one, but from what I could see of it, not much could be done. We pulled the passenger side mount out... the mounts are designed to work only in the compression direction (the weight of the motor pulling down) as there is little to no damping structure to prevent it from moving up. The bottom half of the mount is completely solid. I could in theory cut out part of the top and cast that, but I doubt it would do anything at all, so hence a bust in that department. Building complete new mounts from scratch is feasible thereotically, but we'd be talking about some PRICEY mounts to say the least. So no go there!

But, we are going to tackle that tranny cooler in short order hopefully. Ideally making it work with your stock cooler as well and thus you'd be getting air to air and liquid to liquid cooling for the tranny. So you'd be in great shape there... we'll be aiming to hit under 200 bucks on the kits... hopefully under 150 on them... so we'll see!

Later.

Steve
