GI: Replacement exhaust manifold

Here's the much awaited update:

I've had the turbine flanges at the machine shop for two weeks. As of yesterday two flanges have three finished and tapped holes. Both of those flanges have a tap broken off in the last hole. The other flanges haven't been worked on. I know the guy that runs the shop, he does great work and doesn't waste time. These things are just proving to be nearly untappable. I've ordered another batch of flanges (with holes already tapped), but they won't be here until probably Wednesday. I have a couple more manifolds close to being ready to ship; I just need the flanges to get here so they can be finished. I WILL have at least Daniel Howard shipped this week, but I should be able to get Jonathan Brewer and Stephen Kantarze shipped this week as well. Oggy, Chris Wood, and Earle Lavely will only be a week or so later and then I'll be out of the weeds. I never dreamt that tapping a few holes could be such a problem. I've tapped a lot of holes over the years and I was confident that I would have all the holes tapped in a couple hours tops. I didn't expect to be taking parts to the machine shop, and I could never have guessed that 5 taps would be broken tapping 12 holes. Live and learn...... I'm genuinely sorry for the delay.

Cool thanks for the update Thomas. We can all understand the delays and set backs. No need to appologize about it. The only thing I ask is to keep us upto date.

Can you make this for the 1.6L?

Do you have a head or exhaust manifold that I can use for dimensioning? If you do, a 1.6L turbo manifold shouldn't be a problem.

Sorry, I had too lol
I can't wait to have the money to get one of these.

I can't wait for you to buy one. The more the merrier and I'm finally getting to a point where I can get caught up. I've almost dreaded taking orders lately, because I knew people would have to wait. I think I'm finally past that point.

^ lol. Thanks for the update pope.

No problem. I should have been better about posting, but its been a busy few weeks. My sister-in-law had her baby so my wife has been all over which has left me with the kids and its also the end of the school year and the district has me writing new district wide science curriculum for next year. Lots of good stuff is going on, but there are only so many hours in the day. I need to stop all my other projects and get to work on either a time machine or human cloning with rapid aging. I need more time or more of me.

I know you are busy that's why I haven't bothered you. Also you take pride in your work so if it takes a little longer than expected that's ok because I know it's being done right.

Quick update:

The flanges I ordered still aren't here, but Stealth, you're mani is pretty much done otherwise. I built it with an untapped flange and then once all the runners were done I cut the bad flange back off. I have a graduation to go to tomorrow, but I'm still looking to get it out either Friday or Saturday.

Thanks for the update! I look forward to getting it. The only down side if I have to wait alittle longer to install it due to bent rims, bad rad, and brakes all needign attention. So their is no hurry here.

yay, finally ordered one, which is great, because the cracks are so bad now, I'm hitting fuel cut like crazy, especially on the cool days like these, asked about a possible ceramic coating if you have access to that stuff, if not I will try to find someone around here, but would be great if it was an option. Thanks!

I just placed an order.... I will now be anxiously awaiting it's arrival!

I imagine the gaskets your on your own. and im sure he will prove a dump tube of some sorts.

Gaskets are not part of the price, but I'm putting together a gasket kit that will be added to the site in a couple days.

Coatings are not in the picture right now. I'm going to look into them over the summer (no guarantees), but I'm going to get caught up on orders that have already been placed before I get too deep into adding complexity,

Thanks so much! I've whipped up two manifolds this week - I'm getting all the bugs worked out and making them so much faster! I should be caught up within just a few weeks. To everyone who has been waiting: THANK YOU!
