GI: Projector Headlights.

I don't want to sound negative, but i doubt this will ever happen.

I know, I know. You're probably right, but Im trying to be optimistic. I want to hold out hope that maybe just maybe, someone will FINALLY wake up and see the demand for these lamps. I can't understand why no one wants to even attempt to start producing these. I just don't grasp their logic. Whoever made these lamps would almost certainly get back almost 100% money they invest into developing these for us. If everyone is as serious as they say they are getting this done, then we have almost 220 people ready to buy. Thats pretty impressive if you ask me. I mean, I can see if only 10, 20 people asked about getting these lamps. It wouldn't make much sense to send all kindsa money in RND just to make them for a couple of drivers. But come on, 200+ people have said they would be interested in buying if these ever were to happen. I think that warrents some consideration. Right??

you would think. I think most companies see a car that is no longer production, and that's it, end of line.

I understand where your coming from. Its not even 220 of the board. Theres probably tons of other people not on the board that would want this product produced also.

If only we were hondas then again that would suck.

I just sent this to procarparts.com:

To Whom It May Concern,

(Preferrably a sales or marketing type)

My name is Jonathan Allain and I own a 1999 Mazda Protege. Here is a thread on a popular mazda protege website, that details at least one member's push to get projector headlights for the Mazda Protege, from 99-04. I am wondering

Link to the start of the thread

Towards the end, there is a list of 210 people (as of April 21st, and is included at the bottom of this email) who have shown interest in projectors for the Protege and Protege 5, and that is just from those people who are members of this particular forum. There are several other Protege focused forums of protege owners, including a group of Canadian protege owners, and one that I know of in Finland, where I am friends with a guy who runs another forum just for Finnish Protege owners (though over there they call them the 323 and 323F). Not to mention the owners that modify their cars and don't partake in the forums.

Bottom line: We believe there is quite a market for projector headlights for the Mazda Protege, and I am wondering if you would like to make some money off us.

Thanks,
Jonathan Allain
P.S. my own forum name "glyph" is #134.

I included the list of 210 people at the bottom, didn't feel it necessary to include it here. I'll post their response.

i had a 1997 altima and got rid of it in 2001, but when it was just the first generation out (1993-1997), there were NO parts for it! then stillen made a header and Jim Wolfe came out with an ECU. years later, unorthodox made an underdrive pulley, which i had and it was great.
the point is that sometimes it takes forever to get products made. i cannot believe that there arent any projectors for the proteges/P5's.
i think i am going to make my own. it is cheap (as long as my guinnea pig headlight, my own, doesnt break while retro fitting them in...

has anyone checked this site out? http://www.hidtech.com/ they retro fit projectors into headlamps. On the 2nd page of the projects, there is a 2003 protege. Doesn't look too bad. But by the looks of things, it starts to get expanisve. However, they do sell a bi xenon setup so u can have low and high beams with ur kit. If i come across $800 and this list hits 250...i'm doing thing this haha

HIDTECH retrofits your stock headlights. I've emailed them before but no response. A lot of projector headlights are released a few years after the year of the car. Hopefully we'll see them for ours.

since the protege has went the way of the dodo bird, dinosaurs, and aggressive inline skating (rollerblading), they probably wont produce any for our car. but i like to keep the hope light dimly lit in the back of my mind.

and who the freak fixes up a '96 taurus?!?! i hate this world sometimes. (argh)
