GI: GB on Lightweight rims...

Sounds good to me. Just let us know. Anyone know the fuel or HP %increase over stock when gong going with lighter rims?

Get better fast!

I'd like some lightweight 17 x 8 or 18 x 8 wheels in a shade of silver. Honestly, I would like the Motegi Tracklite 2's in silver.

Silverspeed--

(attn) Read prior posts. I'm pretty sure that we will all have to buy something that is in stock from the dealer I'm speaking with. With a lot of GBs, you have to buy the same wheel, same size. Currently the consensus is the Konig Runaway (to be released soon), 17x7 or 18x7, available in many different colors. It's ~16 lbs for the 17" size.

Vindi--

See my thread about wheel weights. Just do a search and you'll find it. Very physics/calculus heavy, but instructive nonetheless.

Daniel,
Do you have weights for any of the wheels in 18"? I like the Runaways the least of those 3 so if we can get one of the others (or some Kosei K1TS 18s!), then I'd get some.

No, but you can extrapolate the weights by taking the known weights of wheels in 17x7 and 18x7 and finding the % increase and applying it to the weight of the 17" Runaway. (It's an approximation, but it's all I can suggest.)

Unfortunately, the Kosei's are a Tire Rack exclusive and they don't do group buys. I'd love to have the K1TSs myself, but when you can get something just a pound or two heavier for quite a bit less, it's a major consideration. All this is null if someone knows of another place that sells Koseis...(dunno)

If I get any new wheels, I'm looking for 18x7.5. I may still spring for the Kosei wheels since they're only 16 (!) pounds in that size.

Ok guys--we're on! (dance)

Here's the info (I'm going to start an actual GB thread later tonight, so keep an eye out for it so you can sign up):

--This GB is going to be through JLB Motorsports.
--This is a GB for the Konig Runaway (knock-off of the Rota SVN)
--8 buyers needed for this price to be effective, so if you are interested, pass the word along!
--The sizes available are 17x7 w/44e and 18x8 w/46e. Prices are $500 and $575 shipped, respectively.
--The colors that are available are Hyper gray (dark silver), Black w/red lip, Bronze, and Shadow Black. (Hyper gray is currently in stock and ready to go. Others should be here by the end of the month/first of the year.)
--Please sign up on the *Official* GB thread! I need to get an accurate head count to make sure this can go through! (lol2)
--I'll have purchasing instructions on the other thread.

Thanks guys!

Daniel

I'm going to be out of town (health reasons) until Wednesday of next week, so I won't be available to answer questions. I'll answer them when I get back. Otherwise, refer to earlier in the thread for pics, etc.

I'm so on the fence right now its not even funny. I was almost a 100% in, but then it turns out that our Bonus for XMas is based on Senority, not contribution, so my bonus dropped from $700 bucks to $250...gah. It depends on how much I can get for my intake...

Well, all I can say is spread the word! If this works, I may try and do something similar with other upgrades later...(wow)

What's the specific info on the 18x8 rims? Weight? Will the offset be enough for a 235/40 tire?

18" wheels

I talked to Hikaru at JLB Motorsports about the 18x8 Runaways. They have a 46 mm offset and so will probably rub. They weigh around 17 lbs. The Countersteer is 18x7.5 and would fit without problems and also weighs around 17 lbs.

I don't know much about the pros and cons of spacers but they strike me as dangerous at high speeds. I'd much rather have a wheel that naturally fits.
