GI : Big Brake Upgrade

you're the man, twilight. i would like to see something developed for the rear so the car doesn't look retarded.

the bias probably needs a little adjustment, but i think it's totally fine

just fyi - we're in the process of setting up the business layout and as soon as we have that organised and we have the appropriate licences, we'll be going strong!

rear brakes - yeah we can look at that. probably a relocating bracket to move the stock piston out further and a bigger rotor

Two more questions:

1. Do the RX7 calipers bolt directly to the stock steering knuckle or does an adapter bracket have to be made?

2. What is a hat?

Thanks.

calipers - sort of. i'd rather not go into the details at the moment, but there is no adapter bracket.

hat. part of a 2 peice rotor. it's the part between the rotor and the hub. below is a picture of the rotors we are using. the coloured parts and the blue part coming off the rotor is the hat.

Are you going to make anything for the DX model sedans with the rear drums? It would look a little weird if in my case, I bought your big brake upgrade and got bigger rotors and calipers then had my stock drums in the back. What can you do about that?

dont think we'll be doing anything about rear drums. there is only 1 guy in oz with drums at the rear and he doesnt want to upgrade the rear brakes. drums arent that bad though. certainly a lot harder to lock up than discs...and you dont want to lock up your rears if you're driving hard!

thanks mate.

she's doing well now. cant drive for a fair while yet which is anoying, but atleast i have her car to use while i play with my car :D

I had a question about how much this was going to cost - I was thinking of doing the RR big break kit.

more less< / >
an estimate is fine.

and also will the standard brake lines work? ( I already have SS lines for my brakes so will the fit on the RX7s?)

I was going to do the RR bake upgrade as well, but I could piece that together for cheaper.

So I am hoping this is substantialy cheaper.

sounds like it! (mswerd)

without putting any figure down, the price will be between rr-racing's 12" and 13" kits.

i know that's a pretty open window, but when the kit will basically be the same as the 13" kit for a good bit less, it'll be great value, esp when we'll be using 4 piston rx7 calipers! obviously the cheaper we can make it for the better for everyone :D

Well if you need anyone to be the tester over here in the great US of A I would be more then welcome....Wink wink.

But I think it is a great thing you are doing, not enough emphasis goes into brakes. And I am really glad you are pursueing this.

Thanks again twilight.

I think more than anything, we should have a introductory GB on this product. That way everyone wins and the price would be fairly cheap for us? Whatcha think Twilight or Chickaboo?

Also, about how much does the RR 12' or 13' kits cost? Just to get a general idea of what this might cost when it becomes available.

Exactly how ghey would it look to have these big 13' RX7 calipers with new rotors and then have the stock drums on the back?

Read the posts above, drums are really not that bad, but most of the proteges with drums are only 4 lugs, I am pretty sure of that. So if you have a 4 lug this will not fit for your vehicle.
