Getting ready for the Dragon! - Videos of new camera mount

I'm headed to EECMM next week.

So there was no way I was going to drive 16+ hours (without stops for food and pooping, and I love pooping) to visit Tail of the Dragon and not document the trip properly.

Sure I could have my girlfriend hold the camera, but we've all seen how great those videos look. Just google, "youtube srt 4 race".

Anyways, I warn you now the videos are pretty boring, but I was trying to do testing on the best combination of windows down/up without having too much noise interference (and other general tests). I could leave all the windows up and use A/C. But I feel that would be a disgrace to driving the dragon

For $10 worth of Home Despot hardware, that ain't bad, man. Naturally, adjustability isn't there, but whaddaya want for $10?

I didn't notice... on the U-bolts around the headrest posts, did you use wingnuts so you can easily install & remove the mount by hand without tools?

Yeap, I originally used wing nuts for that very reason. Quick on and off, and adjustability without tools.

However, after I mounted it, I switched to regular nuts.

To be honest, It is much faster with a simple ratchet and socket, and it's not too much to carry, if I'm going on a trip and packing other things anyways.

And it's very awkward and slow to spin wing nuts when it's sitting flush under the headrest. If you ever try it, you'll understand.

I built the same type of mount but I included a Chase mount to it (google it) they make several kinds. My seat bar goes from one side to the other, got rid of all that movement. Good job though. 2 years at the dragon and it works good. Oh and really those tests are ok but TOD will be completely different. Just glad you didnt go the girl friend route, she will probably be puking all over your dash board before you know it anyway.
