Hey everyone! I read a lot of the posts on this forum, and it really sounds like a great car. I bought mine last week and I'm getting it in 1 hr.. I can't stop looking at the watch, I'm going nuts here! Can't wait to talk to all of you about this car!

OMG! I love it!!!! It's awesome! Everybody kept pulling me over and asking me what was this car I was driving! It was great! Btw, for how much mileage must I be gentle with this car ? My salesman told me around 3000 km. It's gonna take forever.

Thanks

I'm not metric friendly but the topic of a "break in period" is one for debate. I waited until 1,000 miles but who knows what's right?

Congratulations on the new purchase and welcome!

Congrads on your new MSP(thumb)!! And welcome to the site.
As for the break-in period....it varrys. Go with 1500 mi....that`s always a good amount of miles to throw on a new ride.:p

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Allright, I guess I'll put in 1500 miles before I start pushing her to the limit.

Now about moding :) I know everyone in here wants to do this, and that's mainly why I joined this forum. The problem is I'm a newbie , I tried reading the posts in the performance section, however I get lost in the techno-babble or mechanics. Can anyone give me a link to some info on how turbos work, the definitions of those technical terms.. etc...

And what mods seem to work best with the msp ? I tried reading also about the warranty issues, but I'm not clear on it. I read ppl kept their stock parts so when they had a problem, they put it back on and went to see the dealer.

Thanks for all the info, and sorry if I'm asking old questions, I couldn't find any answers to them while browsing the forum, there's just too many posts, I got all lost.

Thanks

Where in Quebec are you from?
Judging by your avatar my guess would be that you bought a 2003?
Haven't seen any 2003.5 in the Montreal area yet, can't wait to see that damn sexy front lip other then from a picture!!
:)

www.howstuffworks.com is probably the best way to learn about the basic functions of an automobile. Everything from turbos, to brakes, and engine internals is covered. So read up!

And yes, it's always a good idea to keep your stock parts if you decide to mod your MSP. Not only for warranty issues, but also if you decide to sell the car. A modded car is often times less valuable.

P.S. Congrats on the purchase. You'll love your MSP. :)

what scott said :)

And welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll love the car. Give that baby a nice wax now! If it's anything like mine when I got it, the paint wasn't smooth at all. Needed a good wax'n

Thanks Scott for the link. I will go read up on engines.

As for the waxin', my car was awesome when I got it. The paint has been treated and has been guaranteed for 7 years :). I have to wait 1 week to wash my car so the treatment can seep into the paint.

As for where I'm from, I'm directly from Qubec, Qubec.

When I'm done reading about all those engine parts, could anyone help me out to pick up the essential mods ?

Thanks

As for wondering what mods to get first.....the basic ones which most people start off w/ :Boost controller(manual or automated), boost gauge (there`s a couple of threads on this site about proper instalation and how to`s), turbo timer. A real nice couple of coats of meguires or mother`s wax, when the time permits.

Now, if want to go all out, you could go for the new Injen CAI(there`s a couple of threads floating around on this site), or get an up graded and better FMIC, or go w/ a turbo up grade from spoolin.com

You could even go for a big brake up grade, bigger high flowing down pipe......the list goes on.

Of course, these are just some of the things that you could do. And the only thing that can hold you back is "$" and time.(2thumbs)

Thanks for the website Scott. I now know how my engine works, and what the turbo does for performance. :D

I'm going to read up now in the performance section, and see what I'm going to mod first :)

Thanks again

When I first got my car, I couldn't stop grinning. My friend thought I looking a little too silly grinning like that. The problem was that I could NOT stop grinning that first 1 hour of driving the car home. Feels totally cool, especially when it is my first car that I am paying for.... it's all mine. :D

(Of course if dad throws in "The amount of money I spent to send you to school could have bought you... blah blah blah amount of cars"... then he could probably drive it around when ever he likes...hehe)
