Get interviewed by NY Times

Hello everyone. I am part of the Mazdaspeed team at Mazda North American Operations. We have a cool opportunity for you.

A journalist from the NY Times has contacted us and is writing a story about auto manufacturers using well-known stereo makers in their vehicles. He would like to interview a couple of younger people who have purchased youth-oriented cars such as Mazdaspeed Protege.

If you are a younger Mazdaspeed owner and would like to be interviewed, please e-mail me your name and phone number at mazdaspeedplanning@mazdausa.com. The journalist only wants to speak with a couple people so you may not be contacted.

Please note that this is a temporary e-mail address set up for this purpose only, so please no e-mails on other Mazdaspeed matters.

And now for some insider information. We'll have a Sunlight Silver Metallic at the New York Auto Show and a Laser Blue Mica at IAS in Los Angeles so check them out.

i would like to help out, but I dont think I have tuned my settings enough to give it a fair review :)

would it count for mp3's as well, since they came with the first mp3 player standard, and Kenwood supplyed them?!?!

Well...the guy just called me.
My girlfriend answered the phone and thought it was a joke (I never told her about this)...but had a 5-10 min chat where he asked me some questions like:

What do I do for a living?
What was my previous car?
Did the stereo influence my purchase?
Do I spend a lot of time in the car?
Do I plan to get a changer/music keg/satelite radio receiver?
If the system was an option instead of standard, would I have purchased it?
ETC...

The guy was pretty nice, but I didn't get any info as to when anything might be published (didn't think to ask). Not even sure if he's gonna use my info or even reference me specifially. Lots of general questions.

Just the idea that he contacted me is pretty cool:)

Anyone else get a call?

i got a call asked me mostly the same questions...very nice guy...told him he could call me back if he needed anything else

I got a Call too. Nice Gentleman, he mentioned that the story would be in print either the end of April or beginning of May. The section it will run in is printed on firdays only. So it will not be hard to find. He also did mention that he would vall back to confirm the story for print.

So, If anyone gets the call, post here so we know when to buy.

Nice to know how quickly Mazda North America forgets about the MP3's with all our stereo stuff.....duly noted!

The Mazda MP3 is that protege that looks the best of all protege's, you know, that blue one...comes in yellow too!

:)

Someone pick up the NY Times today...the write-up on the stereo is supposed to be in there, in the "Escape" section....might be next week. I'll try to pick it up, but I forgot until now...by the time I get out of work, it might slip my mind...plus after work i have to drive an hour to go pick up my MSP at the dealership too, soo it won't be on my list of priorities to remember.

Thanks

You can read the story online:

Meh, don't bother! Here's all of the Mazdaspeed portion:

In the Mazdaspeed Protg (a performance-enhanced version of the Mazda Protg), the sound system is by Kenwood, another big-name audio company. For Craig Romanovich, 29, of Pittsburgh, it was the deal maker. The system "pushed me over the edge," he said, convincing him to choose the Protg over another car he had been considering.

The rest is BS about other car systems.

the car will probably be at the auto show yes, but much like last year, your sales people will probably know nothing about the car... I found myself telling them what was under the hood

Sad but very true about most sales people despite the brand.
