BluntDoctor said:Is the factory warranty valid if you install the CAI yourself or does it HAVE to be installed by a dealer? I have a price of 250 for labor alone from one dealer and thought that the price was outrageous.
SwampAss said:I can't really see where they would. It's a mazda factory part. You are removing 4 bolts and a hose clamp to install it. You turn more screws/bolts to change your engine oil yet your waranty isn't affected by you doing that.
1.0 hours of it is probably trying to remove the splash shield behind the fog light
yea isnt the cable jsut the sensor that was on the stock airbox? i would think u jsut remove the 2 bolts that hold the plug from stock and bolt to cai as long as it faces the right waycamrycev6 said:It must be more complicated than that. Mazda took 2.5 hours to put mine in. I have seen other posts where it took no less than 1.5 hours for Mazda to install it. Also...there is a electronic cable that plugs in somewhere to it (I didn't trace it...but I assume it goes to the computer.)
Finally, it doesn't void your warranty if you install it yourself --- if you do it right. If you screw it up and cause problems with your car, don't expect Mazda to cover what you messed up. If you are comfortable, knowledgable, and have the equipment to do these types of projects -- go ahead. If you are concerned, I would just order the CAI, read the instructions and then decide if you feel like doing it. Being armed with more information is always a good thing!

Check with the vendor on the first page.bast525 said:Still any of these available? Or will be more soon?
I just sold off the last of the parts from my SRT-4, waiting for the money order in the mail, and then I definately want one of these.
Exact price with shipping to 23320 would be great as well.
Also, do you definately need to reset the ECU for this, is that in the instructions or is that just something you guys felt was a good idea? Seems to me if you dont' reset the computer would adjust in a short time and you would get the benefit either way. I've seen more cars LOSE power after ECU resets.....
