GB: Mazdaspeed3 Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intakes

I would like to see pics, of the MS CAI from the bottom, just how the filter sits. If you have those ken and could post them that would be great.

Thanks for that, I suppose the shield that comes with it helps a lot but that is why I like the CPE better because it hooks up, probably sacrifices a horse or two but that extra foot means a lot. I almost Hydrolocked my 06 Mazda 3, with a K & N that sits like that and I live in Phoenix, dry and hot 360 days a year and flooded 5 days. LOL sorry Ferd i just figured he would have the easiest access to pictures.

How do you know when you almost hydrolock?
Here's some more pics if you're interested.

Cause I was an idiot turned a corner, and was in a1-2 feet of water, the car stalled, I got pushed out and came back like 4 hours later and started my car and it smoked for about 30 minutes, the first 10 minutes it like filled the street with white smoke.

Wow, that sounds oddly like a 'Carfax' commercial.

Were you at WOT? I imagine that the filter was submerged at the time. I heard it takes both.

No, I was not at WOT maybe at the most 3000 rpms when I hit the water
I guess the 2 feet of water would be enough.

Another thing to think about is that if that happened again, the CPE CAI would injest the water and keep a bunch in the bottom pipe. The MS CAI, since it is pointing downward, would just let the excess water drain.

Didnt think of that but very true, so if I almost lock it again, ill have to take of the filter and vaccumm out the water sitting on the bottom before I fire my car up again.

no offense,

but where do yall live to have 2 feet of water to drive through?

if ur stupid enough to go WOT through a large puddle, w/out worry whats in the puddle(maybe large pot hole). mayB you pay the cost of buying a new engine, after it locks up.

I was in a bind, trying to get home after work, my son was sick, just picked him up, and i was driving through a storm when telephone lines went down, several cars were trapped and so I tried to negotiate my way through a neighborhood I was not familiar with and bam went into a sunken part of the roadway, It was one of the worse storms Ive been through in over a decade hear in Arizona, like I said 360 days of heat and nice weather, 5 days of flooding a year, and I was not at WOT also visibility was like at 10% that afternoon.

Does anyone who has this installed have any thoughts on installing a bypass like such? It would make me feel a lot better about it.
