GAUGE PODS! Get your GAUGE PODS HERE!

Scott

I maybe missing so info but the Z828 and as well as the 919 both have a clock. If u look in your radio manual u will find where it says calender/clock. That tells u how to set it. If i am missing some info sorry.Tell me how it goes.

The Pods are looking awsome. One day, one day when i go turbo i'll get one for now its stock and i am poor. I am however saving tho so that day is coming.

It looks like the final production cost (including shipping to anywhere in continental US) is $84.99. Like I said before, these pods replace the factory upper steering column cover with a 2 1/16" gauge pod. Shown here:

It looks OK. I won't be getting one. I'll probably get the pillar kind.

BTW, define "replacement pillar"...

BTW, did anyone notice that the car is off, yet it's running boost?

Or is it? the guage looks confusing...are the #s on the left/bottom for "negative boost" or something?

Kool

I don't believe i have seen a boost guage that doesn't show negitive boost. Thats what it is. If u look real close u will see that the guage is sitting on 0.
Just to help out.

The left side is Vacuum, and the right side is Boost pressure...

"Replacement Pilar" means it's not some cheap cover that goes over your existing pilar, it's a replacement pilar that has pods already molded into it.

Those should be available in a few weeks, I'll let you know asap.

:D

So the pillar is a 2 foot long plastic peice w/ pods?

So why would you have a vacuum...when you're off of boost?

Ben

So Ben essentually when there is no boost the motor is performing just as an Na motor?????And as far as the 1 and 2 on the boost guage is that in bar measurmens?
Zane

Right,....I think the vacuum is measured in HG(inches of mercury). Don't quote me though, I'm not positive. But yes, the motor is almost exactly the same as a NA motor around or below 1000 rpm. Full boost is usually around 1500 to 3000 rpm. Once the exhaust starts flowing faster than idle, it starts to reduce the amount of vacuum until it goes into boost when enough gasses are passing by the turbine in order to make it spin fast enough to make a positive pressure instead of negative pressure. The boost continues to rise until a preset amount is reached, then the waste gate opens to let just enough exhaust gasses bypass the turbine to maintain the preset boost pressure, so that your motors maximum boost level isn't surpassed and so it wont blow your motor.

Actually, isn't a boosted engine slightly slower than it's NA counterpart BC of turbo lag?

Absolutely not. A lot of people speak of the word "LAG" and it's just something they've heard and it does make a little sense. The throttle response in a turbo does go down slightly because of the turbo, but not as much as you think. And it's not because of "lag". Throttle response comes from the throttle being pressed, then the throttle body butterfly valve opens causing a vacuum pulse the the MAP senses. When the MAP senses this pulse, it changes the air/fuel ratio which gives you the crisp torque in low RPM. With a turbo added in and all the tubing before the MAP, that pulse has a longer way to go before it hits the MAP, therefore throttle response will decline slightly. You probably wont even know the difference. But when you think about it, at what rpm to you rev up to before you launch? Most go to about 2500 to 3000 right. Well guess what, the turbo is going to be fully spooled at 2500 to 3000rpm. So there really is no lag if you are preparing to launch.

Yes, to install you would remove your stock pillar piece, and replace it with the one that's shipped to you and install your gauges.

As for the number of pods, they're thinking 2 pods, 'cause if you have the steering column pod, you probably will only need two more housings to make 3 total.. I don't know, how many would YOU want?

I'd realy like to get a 2 pods column. With turbo, you need at least 2 more gauges, BOOST and Air/Fuel. Both of them can fit easily on the column. This is where I installed mine:

MP3_turbo1e.jpg

So if someone make a 2 pods, I'm a buyer :D ..... but not a 1 pod column:(

Three would be optimal but I could work with two. Thanks for the reply, when do you think they will be ready I'd buy one yesterday.

Well, the steering column pod is more of an add on to a system of gauges. For example, you would have a 2 pod A-Pillar and a single pod steering column pod.

The 2 pod setup there looks too cluttered to me. Just my opinion

pod racing

So, where is the pod that shows razor jacks, oil slick meter, smokescreen, radar targeting, grille-mount machine gun ammo count, ECM, distance to Hazzard county, tread depth, Tokyo stock ticker, current Miss America whereabouts and forehead temp., Losers bracket in the playoffs, contents of trunk, etc.? I mean, if we're gonna start MONITORING stuff, let's quit girling around and rip out the center console and replace it with a flat plasma screen with readouts for all this stuff and more! Hook it to the 'Net with a T1 Sat-link, put one of those funky pot-pie tin turn-and-click controllers like that BMW thingee has. Voice activate everything and let the car respond with a perky British accent! I want cameras mounted on every corner and at various other strategic spots along the car body so I can replay my drive home and edit it to music to make it look dramatic. I want a stack of 80 gig hard drives holding every song known to man looped to infinity! I want a hologram of Bela Lugosi projected into the passenger seat giving tips on driving, cooking, typecasting, etc. I want a car that not only changes COLOR from every angle, but configuration as well! Think of it: It looks like an MP3 dead-on, but at 5 degree intervals it changes, until finally from the rear it looks like a 1973 Chevy impala wagon woodside! Better yet, it just flippin' disappears! I want a fan in the dash that blows the scent of fresh-cooked bacon instead of the boring radar detector beeps we're sooooo used to. Maybe make the glovebox a microwave oven! Beat that! Maybe put GLOVES in the glovebox! How about a HUD that projects points on each potential pedestrian kill? While it's at it, it can tell you if they have an innie or an AUDI!
Oh, and a urinal.

Thanks!

I'm hoping my stand-up comedy routine based on the MP3 will finance the mods I want (as follows):

Spoolin's Chrome Tubular Manifold
Turbonetics T3 Turbo
Polished Compressor Housing
Steel Braided Oil, Coolant, Fuel Lines
Vortech 10:1 FMU
Autometer Boost & Air/Fuel Gauge
Turbo XS Type S BOV
Dawes Devices Boost Controller
TSI Front Mount Intercooler
Nitrous Express N-tercooler Spray Kit
Steering Column Gauge Pod

If you know anyone who has these mods, tell them I said "Howdy"!
