When I got my first speed back (the black one) there were some nicks in the black plastic surround around the gauge cluster. I figured small pecie of black plastic can't be more than 20 bucks right. Yeah no, I called the dealership and asked if I could order just that peice they told me I needed to replace the whole cluster $600.00 bucks. That's obvioulsy when I took the car back and bitched some more, and we all know how that turned out. But anyways that was just my expeciance with the gauge cluster, it may be all one peice, just wait till tuesday and give them a call.

huh? what black plastic surrounding the gauge cluster? the plastic with the security LED in there? that is entirely seperate from the cluster and you shouldve been able to order that. they probably just didnt want to do it or something.

edit: yeah i also have various scratches in that peice too somehow, but that can be easily painted with a can of krylon ultra-flat black. *shrugs*

Yeah that peice, they told me it was all part of the cluster. But we all know how well Mazda wants to do anything for anyone, so it suprises me none that they are bascially fat, lazy, and stupid.

i had the same prob. a bit of polish and a lot of elbow grease has almost gotten rid of the scratch. you only notice it if you're really looking for it. give that a go and see what happens. what's the worst that can happen?

what kind of polish? i wish i had a place i could buy NOVUS from....

protege5gurly might be able to sell me just the plastic cover

i just used maguires gold class stuff or whatever the hell it is. what ever you do, done use a cut and polish...use polish only

yeah after about 20 minutes hard polishing, you can only just see the scratch....well...only just see the 3 scratches and small nick. if you didnt know it was there, you'd never notice it. i have to look really hard sitting in the seat normally to see it...and that's only when i have really bright light going in the car like the sun
