I have been thinking about getting rid of my 2007 AWD Mazda CX-7, I just think I need more room for all my baby's stuff, what kind of milage are you guys getting with a AWD CX-9??? It does run on 87 right?? Thanks

I get anywhere from 13-18 on my cx-7....I am really considering it, but I will wait for the new engine & blind spot sensors on the 08.
That is why I am thinking of going BIGGER.....and the room, I also have to see if I can hook up the car seat in the middle, it is safer.Infymus said:

I have my toddlers Britax Marathon in the rear middle seat of my CX-9 using the latch connectors. Works great-- facing front or rear. Much more sturdy than my 4Runner.

FYI, its not recommended to have a child seat in the middle, because if the seat gets detached from the LATCH system or not tightly secured, the seat might go through the middle opening where you center console is. It recommended to have the child seat place behind a the passenger or driver seat, so during a head on accident the child is protected with the front row seats. Lets just hope it wont come to that...
I have a 12 mos. that seats behind the passenger seat.

Most government websites say to put the seat in the middle BECAUSE if you have a side impact.

The cx7 is not that bad you are getting the same epa mileage as the cx-9 the only difference is 87 octance for the cx9 and 91 octane for the cx-7.
Beyond that is a matter of vehicle size cx9 does not look that much bigger I think my old Ford Ex had more space then the cx9

Just to clear up a few things with carseats... I'm a certified child passenger safety technician...
You can only borrow the LATCH anchors for a middle car seat install with a Britax carseat or a Sunshine Kids Radian carseat. All other carseats will NOT allow you to install in the middle of the backseat using LATCH unless there is a dedicated set of LATCH anchors there for the middle. Read your carseat manual and your vehicle owner's manual (child restraints under the safety section).
Yes, middle is safe(R). Just to point out though that the Britax Marathon mentioned allows bracing against a front seat as well as rearface tethering. To maximize the safety of the carseat you own, I would move it to the passenger outboard position, install with LATCH OR seatbelt (whichever method you find easier - NOT BOTH) and tether it rearfacing. Once that is all done, move the front passenger seat back until it touches the Marathon... this is called bracing and is acceptable with the Marathon.
