Garage or Car Cover?

Have to decide between my garage storage/fun space and the CX-5. Wife hates jumping in a hot car (South Florida) so I was thinking to either get a car cover or make room in the garage. I have already tinted the front windows with Suntek 30% and have a sun shade. We also have a 50/50 chance of rain on any day of the year regardless of the season. Any thoughts are appreciated.

If you mean a car cover that is like a sheet over the vehicle, I'd say no. If you're talking about canopy then yes.

Not talking about a canopy or carport, that would require a construction permit. I mean something like this:

An actual car cover is stupid and annoying if you plan on driving the car several times a week.

You live in Florida, where it is either hot and sunny, rainy, or both. And you think your wife is going to put up with removing a 20' long, 15 pound car cover every time she drives the car, and THEN putting it back on by herself? Have you ever put one on by your self? It is very doable, just a pain.

And you have to have someplace to store it while not on the vehicle, preferably not on the ground, where it will pick up sand and grit, scratching the finish. And, someplace where it can be spread out to dry.

I think you should be asking your wife this question. If she thinks it is a good idea, then go for it! Otherwise, clean out the garage.

Yuck... Don't do it unless you are going to store your car for longer than a month, and it has to stay outdoors. It's so much hassle and if you do it every day you're going to look like a person hand washing his car every day.

I hated covering my 125cc motorcycle for rain protection when I was in Korea during college. I always wished I had a garage back then.

Remote car start and leave the AC on high when you leave the car. That way the car will cool down within 5 minutes before she enters it.

Another option is to install window defectors so you can leave the windows slightly open and not worry about rain. I hate the look on the fronts but don't mind them on the rears. I got rears only from Weathertech for my old car. If you are on an incline (in case of a bad rain shower), a moon roof deflector will help big time as well. Hot air rises so the car would stay much cooler.
