Gap between A-Pillar and dash

So I just noticed that my car has a gap at the bottom of the A-pillar on driver side vs almost none on passenger side. Anyone else have this?
You really can't see it unless you open the door and look but I just noticed it. Wonder if the dealer would remedy this?

It was the same on my new Mazda CX-3 but the 2016.5 was perfect. The CX-3 was full of rattles too - I hope that doesn't carry over.

My 2016 CX-5 has the big gap between A pillar and dash exactly at the same location like yours. It seems 2nd-gen CX-5 carries over some fit and finish problems from 1st-gen:

And the gap on passenger dash seems pretty common too on 2017 CX-5:

I was at the dealer to have new front brakes and rotors put on our 2014 and I finally got to sit in both 2017's on their floor. A previous poster mentioned passenger dash separation just below the chrome strip so that was the first thing I checked out. Both models had this issue, model one was bowed and you could see the warp between the chrome strip and the dash. Model two physically had a gap. Also the chrome strip is not mounted securely, a slight push and it flexes in easily. I hope this is just an early production problem as the interior was very nice except for the extra wide center console that intrudes on your right knee?

I have a 2017 GT, there's about a 1/16th gap between A pillar and dash it's consistent all the way around and on both sides. I assume that's to spec. No rattles, no vibrations so far with 1200 miles on it, good fit and finish as far as I can see.

I have about 1/4 inch on driver side and 1/16th on passenger. It's not noisier at all and all the panels other than the a-pillar seem to be aligned. Feels like the A-pillar is a little short.

There were no gaps in my 2016.5 but there were large and uneven gaps in my CX-3 which might be more akin to the production methods used in the new CX-5. Maybe it's intentional to ease pressure on the dash but that CX-3 was dreadful for rattles so I hope that isn't an indication of things to come in my new CX-5 when it comes. There wasn't a single rattle anywhere in the previous one.

I see your point and it kinda looks wierd. However if both (siding and dash) were in contact, it might produce a squeaking sound too.

Yeah I mean you have to look for it to notice but I'm a little OCD when it comes to fitment and symmetry. I know that tight fitting can mean squeaking (RDX had a button panel that would rattle and I had to stuff some fiber mat on the contact point to stop it) but I would have liked it to be at least matching.

That's not what I was thinking. On the CX-3 the gap was where the white trim meets the dash but those are where the dash meets the door. That doesn't offend me at all and I'm quite pleased to see it.

LOL. I was building a laundry pedestal that was 59" wide by 30" deep (about 150cm by 76cm) and I was measuring the cross to make sure it was straight. I was off by about 1/4" (.6cm) and it was bothering me sooooo much. I had to remind myself that this was wood and just a humidity change will move it by about that much from square...

For this gap I have to tell myself to just let it be, you can't see it unless you look for it (it's helping a little)

Oh I thought you were referring to a different gap.

Yeah my 2014 has the same gap. As far as I can see on mine it is by design.

I'll give you more places to look and you may feel the gap you've found is not a big deal.

Here is a picture showing the totally out-of-aligned design lines between B-pillar trim and front door panel in a 2016 CX-5. These two pieces don't match at all and seem coming from two different vehicles. 2017 CX-5 uses the same B-pillar trim piece and you can see it for yourself:

The gap at top of the C-pillar trim from mine. It didn't exist until one year later:

Of course your 2017 CX-5 has the famous dash air gap many people have noticed where you can see the plastic tongue tabs:
