future rebates on MS3?

Even if I wanted the car, I wouldn't be bidding on a one week old seller for a $20k+ product....

New sellers are usually not smart sellers either. Their reserve was probably 2k over MSRP and I'd guess most savy shoppers were expecting that and thus didn't care to bid.

While it may not ultimately mean much, the fact that it didn't even hit the reserve/sticker on ebay provides at least a little hope. In contrast, cars like the Si and GTI, while occasionally selling for slightly more than sticker, certainly hit that mark early on in ebay.

I don't think there will be a lot of action over MSRP. Maybe in a few densely-populated areas where everything costs more and $1K over MSRP still seems like a good deal relatively speaking. But on a national level, I think the car was priced about right at MSRP and some (like me!) are even getting small discounts already.

good to hear. As I mentioned, though it may not be the best indicator, when factoring in the results of some other highly anticipated cars going up on ebay during their first week, the fact that this one didn't even come close to the sticker tells me something. If more fail to gain a lot of attention, those of us who are waiting for the pricing to go down may be in luck.

I wouldn't put my hopes of what MIGHT happen on the goings on at ebay. The way I see it is:

I want one now. I am willing to pay MSRP out the door (tax, title & license are in the range of $1k in WI for the GT)for that privelege because if I wait. If people wait and psooibly get a discount, thats great too. Its just two ways of looking at the same picture. I sincerely hope that those of you that really want a MS3 and are choosing to see if Mazda discounts them as heavily as the MS6 get to see those deals.

Mazda has decided to let the MS3 'trickle' in to th USA in an attempt to keep demand high as to not have to offer the steepdiscounts of the MS6. My local dealer has already sold all 5 that they were allotted by Mazda (I got #4).

I hope that the more patient of us reap the rewards that they expect.
