Actually, I like to have a co-pilot, since I usually carry a written copy of the route with me and have them let me know what's coming up, in case I forget.

I'm not sure, its a cheap nav and I dont know the route. These damn things never take the same routes that youd normally drive or that mapquest or any other map site gives.

On a different note my TomTom One 130 doesn't have itineraries, so I can't plan such routes...

My cheapo amcor doesnt either which is kind of lame, I couldnt even view the route after I did it.

I dont understand what's so dangerous about driving at night... I drive from miami to michigan mostly at night. no big deal.

Driving straight-line freeway with exit ramps and the occasional streetlights is WAY different than blasting around back country roads in the dark. Besides the potential for off-road excursions, the chances of making a wrong turn and becoming hopelessly lost are a lot higher.

I agree that we will need very experienced group leaders and everybody else should have at least one drive under their belts. One option would be to have a dual drive. One Friday night and another Saturday morning. Since the contingency plan for bad weather is to go Saturday morning anyway, we could start a sign-up list for a day drive the next morning. Maybe start it a little later, so the people from the night before aren't up at the butt crack of dawn. If we keep the same pace we ran on Sunday, I could start as late as 10:30 or so and still be able to make it to work by 3:00.

I'd be up for a night run but Fridays aren't good for me. The morning run on Sat. should work though.

Deer mainly but a good sized raccoon or opossum could do some damage as well. Also at night I'd be thinking more about the condition of the corners, a lot of them had quite a bit of gravel or pot holes that might be tougher to see at night.

I had a raccoon do $700 worth of damage to an '89 Toyota Tercel. Deer are the most dangerous but definitely not the only concern.

A lil off topic Goldwing but we just got back from Deals gap Tail of the Dragon and ran with 3 bad arse lotus's. All with big super charges getting more than 340 horse. they were wicked. Wish we had gotten pics but we werent prepared and didnt have them on us at the time.
