Fuel Filter Change

Hey all,
I've got a 2006 Mazda3 5 speed. IF I were to change the fuel filter myself, how hard would it be? I've got a decent amount of mechanical experience, i.e. do my own oil changes, know a wrench from a ratchet, reconnected a Porsche engine in a car my bf and I are rebuilding, etc.

Is it worth it to do it on my own or worth the money to just have the shop do it?

Curious about this too. I heard it was inside the fuel tank, but that could be complete BS.\

What makes you think you need to change it?

It's in the fuel tank.

Agreed, if it's anything like the old 3rd gen's, it's actually apart of the fuel pump itself. The sock filter should be serviceable, but that's only for large debris, the fine media filter is embedded into the pump.

Acceleration is a little sluggish. Wasn't sure if this was a regular maintenance on this car. Couldn't find it in the manual. I did use a fuel additive and it helped, haven't had the lag that I was having between 2nd and 3rd gear before.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I have a 2002 Millenia, an 1988 RX7 and my wife drives an MPV.
My Millenia is idling rough. I have never changed the fuel filter. Don't know where it is. Is it in the gas tank?

Sorry this should go in the MPV, Millenia family
