FS-ZE engine

what kind of hp(crank) would i be looking at with the following motor.....

Fs-DE (MP3)
Port and Polished Stock Head
Bosal or AutoEXE header
JE Forged J-spec Pistons
OEM J-spec Intake Manifold
J-Spec Cams
Bosch +4 Plugs (plat)
Magnecor Wires
HKS Ground Kit
Auto EXE 60mm Throttle Body
AEM SRI

with stock ecu=?
with stand alone=?

im just looking for an approx from someone who knows about the output on these engines, the car goes on the dyno next weekend with just the bosch plugs and aem sri. i'll post the numbers as well as dyno sheets

its hard to say what numbers you will come up with but with all those mods you will need to do stand alone or some sort of piggyback to get use of all the mods... the stock ecu dosent compensate well to mods like that....

and just as a side note ... bosch plugs are crap and i would never buy them.. i would bet you didnt gain any power for puting those if your car...

i had my car dynoed with the aem short ram and custom exhaust...

but with the stock mp3 ecu i would say you woulnt get more than 130 to the wheels....

with stand alone i would guess with good tuning you would get around 150 whp....

to give you an idea... the engine im buying is a fsze with custom cams, racing valve springs, extensively ported head and manifold, 5 angle valve job, and the head is milled .06 to raise compression to 11.5:1..
and with the ES ecu they only got 138 to the wheels...

so if you plan on doing this many mods on your car i would plan on getting a stand alone...

so basically im better off either turboing it or buying a project car to mess with?

heh yea basically... i've been trying to stay away from a turbo setup and just fine tune my engine... but it's just not worth it if you want big hp gains... get a turbo or a v8 and go from there...

Hondas and bmw's have OBDII to OBDI conversion kits available. You would think it would be possible if you had the j-spec ecu to make a harness to wire it all up.

I bet it would be. A pain the rear!

Oh it would be, but theres a chance it would work. Then that person could sell that harness and make a profit lol.

Hmmm, well get working!:p

J/K

Somebody loan me a J-spec ecu, wiring harness, motor, and alot of food and I'll do it.

OBDI cars will make alot more power w/ n/a mods than OBDII cars too. Booo to obdII.

the amount of money you would spend on the harness and the ecu would be a waste...

it still would run really rich and not be tuned well...

if anyone changes their internals... eg.. cams, pistons... they should get a stand alone....

you will gain the most out of your mods if you stay n/a with stand alone...

you can then advance the timing and play with fuel....

with a factory ecu your car will just continue to run rich...

i plan on having stand alone in january.....

then i will begin to dyno tune it ....

im will be starting my ITB's soon also..

I thought that the oilpan / oil system was different between the Miata BP and longitudinal BP.

They are, my bad. The pan and pickup are, indeed, different.
