FS DE rebuild specs

God forbid someone use this site for its intended purpose.

Good work dana!

As for "having to run back and forth from the computer", its called PRINTING!!! You may have seen it done a few times.

AS far as the intellectual property goes, that total horseshit! In that respect every single peice of info about the car is Mazdas property and we are entitled to none of it. THat is obviously not the case. Instead of you guys pulling the old, RTM, why not just STFU!

haha...I was thinking the same thing...I used Andy's How-to for the cam install a few months ago, and I didn't just bring it up on the moniter and run to and from the garage every time I removed a bolt...

A torque spec, which torque spec? There's torque specs for every single little bolt in the engine... do you want me to list them all, your highness?

you've GOT to be kidding

Right. Telling someone a rebuild tip or a torque spec is illegal.

okkk... then why did you ask all of us for something you already have?

Wow, I'm almost sorry I started this thread. Personally, I have the manual. There's more info than just what's in the manual.

what purpose? the purpose of forums is to provide info not normally found elsewhere or hard to find and discuss upon it as well as sharing tips, stories, etc... information that's found in a MANUAL is NOT considered of what is stated above... the manual can be easily obtained and is NOT "hard to find info"... tips are great, but wasn't this thread asking for specs to begin with? there's not many "tips" on engine rebuilding either... whatever needs to be done is explained in the manual already... oh here's a no brainer tip... REMOVE the engine before doing overhaul on it

Because there's more to it than torque specs. Any info would be nice. If someone wants to list torque specs, fine. And dude, chill out.

Specs and tips. So quit whining if you don't have anything to add.

Sure there is. Like...labeling your wires and such as you remove them. That's what I'm looking for here.

Great, thanks. Oh, I have a tip for you as well. People will like you more, if you don't act like a jack off. Please stay out of this thread if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute.

pulling a head or block can be some work. it would be nice to have tips and a write up of remove/install. i know i'm in need of one but for now i'm going to have someone pull my head and tell me what's up with the motor.

Manuals are not good for showing were you will run into difficulty...A manual never says "and when you go to remove this bolt, be careful...It is ******* on there like a mad man and strips easily"...or "You will have to somehow shrink your hands to that of a japanese engineer to fit between the timing belt engine side and the frame"...and a manual never gives a realistic figure on how long it will take to do the work...Reading through the manuals specs/description on the rear engine mount makes it appear like a 30 minute job...Most of the guys that did it didn't break 5 hours...

I am not arguing that manuals are needed for the work, but replies from someone that has done the exact job you are planning on doing is very beneficial...Both should be used on a particular job...

Using that logic, you are absolutely correct. A thread defining such diffuculties would be excellent! However, IMO, posting the actual torque specs and each nuance found in the manual would be redundant, not to mention time consuming.

I think Kooldino had a good idea with starting this thread. Posting real life tips would be an excellent reference. However, I'll stick by my original post in that I'd rather follow a shop manual when it comes to precise numbers such as torque and clearance specs.

Agreed... I would never just use the info someone posted on the board to do all the work...You should have the entire manual and read it very carefully before you even break out the tools...But you could then refer to this thread, or hopefully a new one we create that actually has the work info, to better prepare yourself...and potentially make things go much smoother...it would be similar to having a person actually with you that already did it...that kind of insight always helps...

Exactly.

Perhaps if one of the mods got wind of this thread/concept, someone could create a thread in the howto section in which people can post tips and/or misgivings and whatnot. Any BS post could be deleted.

...just a thought.
