i went to troy to see whats been going on, and the results arent encouraging. im pretty annoyed since if i knew it was going to take 6 months to end up where i left off, i would have done something else. theres not a lot of consistency, and despite my training him with how to use the machine and make sure everything works correctly, he still hasnt "gotten it". simply put, understanding how to troubleshoot the issues is still over his head for something this complex.
its not all his fault though - theres a lot of people who use that machine and that shop, and since its a beginners shop they have a nice way of chipping tools, changing coordinates, and doing things on the machines without knowing how to undo them. i would generally know how to fix them and go right back to consistent runs, but it doesnt seem like hes at that stage yet.
im still going to let him run down the stock at his leisure, but im not expecting much. he got an updated program which has been turning out rings that are more consistent, but based on what ive got in my lap here... i dont know about my faith in him to correct something if it goes astray.
FORZWIN, i have two rings for you for all your patronage, patience, and assistance with testing the other rings. they are unfinished, and still have sharp edges. rub them down with some 110 grit and you should get close. these are the first two off the new program and are of equal quality to mine. please PM me your address.
i have a few others which arent as nice as id otherwise distribute but sadly this might be the only option. if you are interested in any, please PM me your address. i will cover shipping for any of these replacements, but if another batch is offered later (i.e. from the revised program) you will be responsible for stock and shipping costs if you want another replacement. none are sanded or brushed, but it takes about 5 mins with some 110 grit to get them looking good.
-- two of the "older style" ones. these either came from FORZWIN, or were two of the last ones i had laying around at the shop. they fit my cluster pretty well and look good, but if they did come from FORZWIN his ran a little small. your mileage may vary, you might need double sided tape, i dont know.
-- three are oversize and definitely wont move in the cluster, but they might stick out to the point that your center clip on the cluster shield wont lock. you could grind the edges a little to get them to drop in further, ignore the clip, or whatever. the profile is somewhat "off" - they sit a little tall.
-- one is "just right" - fit is a little snug, but overall its a production quality piece
-- two more are WAY oversize (.015"+). these would DEFINITELY require grinding - sanding wouldnt fix the problem. i would encourage you not to take these unless no other ones are available and you have the tools to fix them.
let me know guys... im doing what i can for you here.
