Front rotors stuck (Mazda3)

Hello all,

Replaced the rear pads this weekend and was going to do the fronts as well as the front rotors, but it appears as though the front rotors have rusted to the hub. The rears look ok. Tried tapping it (ok, hitting it) with a mallet to loosen it up with no luck. Anyone else have this issue? Is it sledge time?

Thanks!!

get up behind the rotor where the cooling vent inlet is and hit the junction of the rotor and hub with PB. If you can't see behind, you can just shoot a bunch of PB down one of the vents at the top edge of the rotor and it will find its way down. Also, spray PB into the holes that the wheel studs come through. Let it soak. Then whack it hard with a deablow mallet or a mini-sledge. You want to hit it sideways at the very top or very bottom of the rotor so that it 'prys' the other side off. Some rotors have threaded holes in them that allow you to use a common size bolt to thread in and PUSH the rotor off. Use lube and 2 bolts in those holes if your rotor has them so that you push the rotor off kinda evenly.
