From Honda to Mazda .. convince me

well im in the market for a newer/nicer car .. im just curious of guys that came from honda to say a MP5 whatd you think .. ive had my honda for a year .. just need something bigger but i want a hatch and the P5 fits what i need/want .. mainly itd be suspension/wheels/exterior.. the bolt ons ..

had a '99 civic ex... i likeded it, but the clutch and shifting were way mushier than a p5 imo and the handling couldnt compare. anyways, if honda woulda made a 4-door hatch i mighta been on that.

I used to have a 96' honda civic EX. It was cool but hondas are to played out. I totaled it so I bought a P5. I will have this car till I die or it dies. Whatever comes first. If your like me and hate traffic and live in Cali, get an Auto. If not get the 5spd. I actually regret it now, I want a 5spd.

The P5 is everything but fast.

Save your money on the bolt ons (other than exhaust). You need a turbo if you want any power at all. 7psi is a good daily driver on the stock engine.

I can't afford a turbo. But am happy with my 117 WHP in 100 plus temps.

The P5 with minor suspension mods will out corner a lot higher end sports cars and sport bikes.

Example: I basically drafted a RC51 down the mountain yesterday. He had me going straight but I had him in the corners. 158 corners that is in 12 miles. The car drives like its on rails.

As my fourth vehicle I am very pleased with my P5. Not a stick (Damn im an idiot) but this car is everything one could ask for and then some. Just make sure you get the M/T.

It looks a lot better than a Civic, is a bit more unique than a Civic, and handles like demon.

I feel close to ZERO bodyroll, even on stock suspension.

Oh yea, it's not as likely to get stolen.

I Love my P5. I also love my Acura CL, but they are 2 complete different automobiles and each has it advantages/disadvantages. For the record, I have also owned a 2003 Civic and a 1997 Integra. The P5 replaced my Integra.

A few cars ago I had a '96 Civic EX coupe, 5-speed, red, etc. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't fun to drive like the P5. The Civic did it's job which was to get me from place to place, but I didn't really enjoy the drive. The feel just wasn't there. The Civic felt to me like an economy car. The Mazda feels like a sports car that isn't that expensive. Know what I mean? Drive it and you'll see.

I had a 96 Accord, auto trans, 2.2L 4-cyl. The Protege5 is nice because it has a hatchback instead of a trunk. I can put bigger stuff in the back. Steering feels different. It feels more responsive. It might because of the bigger wheels though. There's a bit less visibility over the left shoulder because it's a hatchback/wagon. Inside the cabin, it's a bit noisier than an Accord but quieter than a Civic.

Whatever you do, get a 5 speed- especially if you have a lot of traffic- gives you something to do.
