Fresh Tranny Fluid!

Yeah that's how it should be! Cars are f'n too expensive for them to not being doing the work.

There was actually a post I read in a different thread where this guy goes to a shop that lets you sit in the car while they work on your car AND they have cameras under the car and around it so you can see what they are actually doing...now that is piece of mind
I believe that was a quick lube joint not a regular shop.

If I have to take my car to get serviced I always watch them work on my car... I just stand my the bay (outside of course) and watch the tech from start to finish... If I see something that isn't right, I question him...though I do it in a non-demeaning fashion...

Where do you normally have the car serviced at Auto?

Depends what type of work I get done. The only time I take my car to get serviced is when I can't do it myself; alignments, tire installations on rims, A/C service, etc...

I've gone to Irish Mike's for alignments, Classic Mazda East, and Cory Fairbanks...

Cory Fairbanks Mazda will void your warranty in a heart beat if they see MODS on your car. Beware...

Mine isn't voided but I could tell they where looking to.

Needless to say I will no longer be going there..

Really???(nervous)
Well, hopefully I won't have to go for any warranty work ever... (lol2)

that is illegal...if that notion is true, someone could make some money with that....

yeah i found it searching through the forums. i know i can do it without out a diagram, i just haven't had the time to look under the car yet. just got it and its still cold here in CT

You did find it then? I was just looking for it and I couldn't find it. But they have pics in the how to guide. Basically take off the driverside wheel and you will see the drain plug. The fill plug is a little more tricky. You need to remove the airbox to get to it. It is hard to describe where to find it with just words but it is the same size as the drain plug and it is not the bolt angled upward but it is near said bolt.

you guys ever tried Lucas Oil 75-90 and its made for LSD as well???

Just wondering , I'm debating to get Lucas Oil or Red Line one .

mine grinds 3rd gear nearly everytime when i shift at high rpms. every other gear is fine, don't understand it. i put on the trz mm and it didn't help it out

Yeah this is common problem it seems. You just can't shift high up in the revs to 3rd gear which sucks because it slows the car down.

I found that if you shift @ right around 5k to 3rd it doesn't grind.

The problem seems to be the transmission because I got the bushings and Short Shifter and MM and it will still grind 3rd if I'm high up in the revs.

The Short Shifter/ Bushings and MM only help to improve shift feel.

Well I think the MM helps the shifting to some extent.

this really sucks, a brand new car should not grind even off rev limiter. i shouldn't have to shift it at 5k rpms...

Tell me about it.. I wish Mazda would address this issue and own up to their mistakes

This car should've been fitted with a better tranny

i had this problem initially, in the first month or so of ownership, even after getting inserts/SS/bushings. i come from linkage actuated transmissions (old honda) and also new style cable actuated, but one afflicted with a poor design (NEW honda Si which just came out with their TSB for their issues), so really i figured i should not have an issue with the ms3.

it then hit me that i was simply not paying attention to the clutch engagement vs. the gear change from 2nd to 3rd. it's weird on this car, trust me. it takes some realization and adjustment, but, since the middle of february, i've had no issues whatsoever, and i shift pretty quickly from 2 to 3. there wasn't any slowing down or care re: rev level, it was simply making sure the clutch was depressed before i changed gears. pretty basic idea, i know, but like i said- this car has a weird cooperation between the two. while i think the bits i bought, esp the inserts, help things, really it's just a matter of timing adjustment IMO.

now it's PERFECT, i have not one complaint!

if i had to suggest how to practice, just practice shifting, meaning taking it out of 2nd enroute to the next gear, RIGHT after full depression of the pedal. do it slowly, but briskly (if that makes sense) and then eventually speed up that syncronization. i know this seems dumb, and it's hard to explain, but it worked for me- it really was a timing issue for my car.
