yep you heard right a forge WGA is on its way. i spent most of Thursday at PROTEGE GARAGE doing the prototype install of a sweet fully adjustable actuator. it has interchangeble springs and rod preload adjustment. the install is not too bad. we did have to remove the turbo inlet tube to get good clear access to the bolts, but that wasnt too bad. my goal is to run my desired boost WITH NO BOOST CONTROLER. with the right combination of spring and preload it should be possible with this WGA. we did the install with the blue spring which is rated at 13-18psi, and very little preload. with that and no MBC i am seeing spikes to 17psi and holding 14. yes that is low, but i have yet to make any adjustments. i think with the blue spring i should be able to sial in a 20-21psi spike and hold 18psi. if you want more you can always add the MBC or step up to the red spring (20+psi). the stock WGA is set to 8psi, so even the blue spring at the lowest 13psi setting is an improvement. the spool up is WICKED fast, i'm just not boosting it high right now. the weather has been s*** lately so i didnt bother tweeking it, since i couldnt go out and womp on it anyways. this thing is really sweet. DONT GO CALLING anybody to order it yet cuz it isnt ready. the bracket i was given to mount it didnt work. they wanted me to try that bracket since it was from another model they already produced, it needed some "massaging" but we got it to work. all in all it will be ready for the rest of you soon, and i will post my final review of it once i get it dialed in properly.
i also want to give a big thanks to FORGE for taking the time to make another kick ass product for us mazdaspeeders.
and dont forget my fellas KEN, ZACH, and ARIC at PG for helping out with the install !
P.S. when i first installed it, i left the MBC on just turned slightly down from where i had it. i think i owe ZACH a pair of new undies !! on the test run the car spiked to 26psi and held 20 psi past 6k rpm !!

maybe one of the PG guys can post the pics we took, i didnt have my camera.

nice i like what i hear.Im still having problems keepingmy turbo from stop spiking .and i have the turbosmart mbc and still spikes.

spikes with the turbo smart are rare, and should not happen if you installed it by eliminating the factory solenoids. if you did that and still see spikes you can remove the ball and spring gate system from inside the MBC. this may slightly reduce your spool up speed, but it should eliminate the spike too.

Regular kind of soon (1 to 2 weeks), or Cobb kind of soon (1month to 3 years)?

(lol2)

Just kidding, but seriously.

i bet it will be ready for shipping in about a month. i am still trying to work the bugs out. i have the blue spring in which is supposed to be able to hold up to 18psi by adding preload tension to it. i went under the car to make an adjustment yesterday trying to get it above the 14psi i currently see. i found a problem however. the length of the rod itself is too long, not allowing me to get the adjustment i need out of it. i plan on pulling the whoel assembly off again today. since there are plenty of unused threads left on the rod, all i have to do is cut about a 1/2" off the rod. that should allow me to get the amount of preload needed to hit my 18psi target. i would just move up to the red spring and hold 19-20, but i have my reworked turbo comming very soon, and 20 psi is just too high to start off at with that. i'll let you guys know what happens after i chop the rod.

Any possibility that reworking the mount (which is technically for a different car) could accomplish the same thing? Instead of cutting the rod, move the unit further away.

correct. i had to do all that stuff because i am doing the prototype test fitting. they sent me what i believe was the set up that is used for the saab 9000, which was almost a perfect fit. i reported back to forge with what needs to be done to make it fit perfect. now when ayou guys get yours it will be good to go !

my current set-up....... i kept the blue spring in and got the rod chopped down. i now have as much preload as the actuator would allow. i had it tighter at one point, but when i pressureized the actuator with my air compressor regulated to 25psi, it would not open !! so i backed it up until the full range of motion was achieved.

what i see now.... the spool up is SICK ! gears 1-3 still produce slightly lower boost than 4-6, but that will always happen due to engine load. i spike to about 19psi and hold 15-16 in the lower 3 gears. 4-6 spike to 20-21psi and hold 17-18. keep in mind this is with the WGA hooked up ONLY ! there is no other boost control in play what so ever. i should also mention the boost does still fall off up top, it doesnt hold like i hoped. well it is better than stock by far, but not any better than i saw with my stock WGA and MBC set up. stock falls to 8psi at 6500rpm with this wga it still has 13psi at that point. i think the turbo just cant make any more boost than that. i bet with my new k04 i will see highr numbers up top.

I believe you have found the limits of the little turbo. Very good results so far though, I sure do like this project Best of luck to you fellas! i sure will be tuned in to this station.

thanks neal for letting us try and blow up your car yet again :D

hey no problem ! the first spin Zach and i went for the car spiked to just under 30psi !!! i'm telling you, my car is used to the abuse. if it hasnt broken by now, i dont think it ever will !!

yeah i got the WGA dialed in pretty nice now. it took some time but i am happy with it. too bad i have to reset it all with LOWER boost for a while on the new PG reworked turbo that CAME IN TODAY !! my car is experiencing some sort of cut again too, it pisses me off. it has something to do with resetting the ECU. every time i remove the battery or get a flash at mazda the car runs like s*** for weeks. my short term fuel trims are taking their sweet ass time correcting the LTFT. i have noticed when the STFT are wayy off under heavy throttle the car will cut. i hate to say it, but i will be buying a flash tuner soon. i havent decided on COBB or superchips yet, but i guess i am at the point where it will be highly beneficial.

it is fuel trim related 100%. i blame the MS intake. when my short term trims stat below 15% the car doenst cut. once i go over 15% correction with heavy throttle it cuts. my car has NO FEAR DAMN IT !
it has seen 25-30+psi on the stock turbo many times, and i usually dont lift either...i juse say "lets see what happens". i have data logged a 5th gear pull that spiked to 27psi held 24psi and only fell to 20psi at 6500rpm and still had an 11:1 AFR ! when the car isnt cutting it runs like an SOB !

I misspoke, my car, has a fear of boost. Not tuned and a better flowing system of bolt ons. If I modulate throttle in third, and beyond I can finally pull till 6300 or so with feeling. But the Ecu doesnt like 18lbs or more. The car is pretty strong but there is alot more just waiting it seems. Do I need a fuel cut defender in the interim?

my car is on the frits lately too. i have to easy on the throttle otherwise i get a nasty cut. i hope once i releave some restiction by replacing the DP and IC it will go away. if not i will be on the first train to cobbleville !
