Anyone have this im thinking about getting it but i wanted to get some inputs, ive read alot of threads on other forums about some noise "cling, clang", maybe on the first ones that came out?

and the opther one i was looking at was the HKS but it seems like people are having issues with them too??

any help would be cool, thanks

It does cling clang. Its a metal spring bouncing inside an alumn housing but not actually beating against the metal. Its a very distinctive sound and i like it. Have had mine on the car since 55 miles :)

Mine made a loud cling clang (i was posting bout the loud cling clang sound thingy), but don't let that discourage you from getting a forge BPV...

My unit was leaking, i sent it back to Forge, they replaced some parts and tightned it down to spec and it's on its way back to me now..whee !
*cross fingers*

How did you figure out it was leaking on you?

When i had that on, my car doesn't pull as much when i hear the turbo spool (had the airbox mod done)....i had the forge on for bout a week, hoping it's just me getting used to it...wierd thing is that my boost guage was showing boost fine, about 15psi steady...

When i switched back to the stock BPV, my car pulled soooo much more compared to the forge BPV.

I corresponded with Patrick from Forge and he mentioned the loud sound could be the effect of a leak so i sent it back to them to check it out.

He got back to me yesterday and said there was indeed a leak, and he replaced the piston, re-grease it and o-ring as well....and i got UPS confirmation about the package right after he emailed me :D

EDIT: I should add that for my unit (when it was leaking), the cling clang sound was indeed very loud...hard to describe how loud, but with music at volume of 8 - 9, all windows up and cruising at highway, i can hear it pretty obvious at light boost

I have one too for about 2 days.. But it seems to me that the car puled harder with a stock one on...I tried it with a yellow+2shims still same, so i tried it with a red one that is the stiffest and i still think stock one is better..I dont know...
Seems to me that Red spring is about the same stiffnes as stock one..IF you compress the plungers inside bov Forge vs stock one the red spring is the closest to stiffnes and not the yellow one..Someone correct me if im wrong ??
So i thing yellow one would be to week ????

Got mine back from Forge, and fixed it up days later cause car was in dealership for 2 days, only to be denied the clutch TSB..again..*^#$&%#$

Anyway, mine now pulls as hard as stock, and holds boost at higher revs...I have 1 shim at the bottom. The sound is much more surpressed and sounds different (cooler in a way) than when it was leaking...

overall i'm satisfied with my forge, and props to Forge for taking care of things....got stickers and keychains from them too..ehhe

Got mine on Tuesday and installed it yesterday. Car feels much more responsive and lively, almost like the flywheel dropped a few lbs. Definitely louder than stock BPV (I'm running a Fujita CAI), with a sharper chirp or "whistle", finishing off with a slight "tink". Louder and more extroverted than I'd like but overall the driving improvement makes it worthwhile.

Now I'm ready for more boost (when the PnP CPE StandBack is released)!.

Scratched Springs?

I got my Forge BPV today and the blue and yellow springs are scuffed at the tops and both of those springs are bent as the don't allow smooth movement of the piston. Is this normal? Red seems to work ok (off the car) but is a lot of resistance.

From the Forge website:
Valve Spring color coding

Green - 5-15 PSI

Yellow - 15-23 PSI

Blue - 23-30 PSI

Red - 30 + PSI

The above figures are estimates only and should only be considered as a guideline
Do not use red!

Ok with a little fiddling I got the yellow to work smoothly with 1 shim. Its is pretty tight when you tighten the top down all the way. Perhaps some issues with it not feeling as good as stock are that the top isn't being tightened all the way down - mine came shipped not tightened down.

Took off the stock BPV. The resistance on the valve is significantly more than on the Forge. Resistance may not be everything though. For now the stocker went back on...

hmm you gotta be doing something wrong or a defective one averia?

well ill be getting mine tomorrow..woohoo!
ill get sound clips and pics

I'm using the yellow spring plus 1 shim. As others have stated the red spring will give the same effort as stock but then again we may be talking apples and oranges on the spring effort between the stock and the Forge as it relates to the ability to hold boost.
