So I just saw one of those Ford swap your ride ads, and im a little intrigued. I think this means that you can turn your car into the dealership for a week, and they give you a car to drive... But im not sure what this whole thing is about. Anyone know any info about it? I know that the Hybrids, SVT Raptor, and GT500 are excluded, but the Mustang GT isnt...

I know nothing about this but why waste your time. just so you can drive a mustang GT lol

2011 GT is a beast. with numbers to compared witht he e92 BMW M3, shows how much you havent done your research.

id gladly give up my Speed for a Mustang, now.

2011 GT>>>>>Mazdas whole fleet

I know what the 2011 GT is all about. But at a price range in the $30,000, fck that.

It sounded to me like OP wasn't looking for a new car but a free ride. My bad.

damn right I was looking for a free ride. I personally enjoy driving all types of cars, and even the 315 or whatever hp the current GT has, it would still be fun.

well don't forget to post lots of videos lol

You better read the fine print, is all I can say. There's no such thing as a free ride. No way in hell a dealership is going to let you drive and depreciate a new car with no strings (ie "money") attached.

Please tell me you don't really think that's what it means.

Swap your ride

This was a national promomotion by Ford. People responded to a Ford survey that own similar and like cars in the Ford product line. A small amount of those people across the nation were invited to swap their cars for a week. The promo is over and the people that were chosen to participate are providing their testimonials on tv/radio commercials now.

I found this out from Walnut Creek Ford as I was willing to trade my car for a week on a 5.0 2011 Mustang. However that never happened and that particular car was not available in the promo as thet are just arriving at dealerships now.

FYI Bigdaddy, Mike at WC Ford has a black 5.0 litre arriving today and is available for test drives. I'm planning on checking it out tomorrow. Maybe I'll see ya there. (burnout)

Sweet...that thing will most certainly be a demo car haha, so many people want to drive them. I was just up at WC Ford 2 days ago, had to pick up some MotorCraft Tannny oil...

...any chance your car is black?

yeah, obviously, there are strings attached. I was simply wondering. geez. lol.

No, it isn't like that. What you see in the commercials is a commerical, it's not something that's available to you. The Swap Your Ride Sales event is about trading in your current vehicle to buy a new Ford.

I would seriously consider the new Mustang V6. Maybe even the 5.0 They both look awesome. Would love to go back to a convertible.

They definetly look nice on the outside, but its the same crummy ford engineering on the inside. I wouldn't hold onto one past 50k miles. Plus the solid rear gives the mustang crummy handling. The new 5.0 is also NEW, I'd wait a year or two to make sure they fix any problems that arise from it. It is ford's first time with a variable cam engine I believe. But the mustang would be better if you enjoy going fast in a straight line.

Don't forget about the dash that is straight out of the '80's cheap. It's too retro, in a bad way.

The 2011 is totally new. The 2010 interior is s***. Ford is really doing an awesome job making cars that can compete with Japan. I hate American cars, but its getting to the point where I might rather drive a Fusion than a camry or accord, and that is based on looks primarily...but engineering wise, they are getting there as well.

+1 on the 2011 Mustang. New interior design with soft touch plastic dash, redsigned interior arm rests and center console with leather and alcantara seats. The 05-09 Mustangs have cheap interiors. I have a Roush dashboard but still only a 140 mph speedometer. Out the door I paid $55K for my supercharged Roush with the brake upgrade option and installed coil overs and chasis stiffeners along with an Alpine Navigation head unit. My total investment is $60K and when my son joins me at the track, I give him the 07 MS3 to drive. I hear him laughin as he passes me too! Total money in the MS3 is $27K with an MSCAI and a Cobb RSB. If I put MS coilovers on it I'm still at half of what I paid for the Mustang. So this what I mean by the best bang for buck car I've ever bought when I talk about my Mazda.

Bigdaddy, I'm afraid to go to WC Ford and test drive that new black 2011 Mustang GT with the Brembo front brake option. I might just have to trade my Roush for it.

The fine print says "not available on Hybrids, Taurus SE, Edge SE AWD, F-150 Raptor, Shelby GT500, and Transit Connect" So according to their fine print, the regular GT is fair game, along with the Taurus SHO. Unless that was just referring to something along with financing.

Yeah, they have done a nice job on the new one. I'm impressed, and that is coming from me, who learned how to drive on my moms 2008 BMW 335i, fully loaded. And my dad has a 2010 Audi S5, so I think its safe to say, the quality is getting way better. As for the 05-09 mustangs, I have a friend who has a GT california edition, with a ton of mods, and he let me drive it, and its sweet, but the interior sucks. I hope its sweet to drive, its got a 3.73 rear end, brakes, headers, under drive pulleys...the whole nine yards.

...bigdaddyMS3, any chance your son went to De La Salle in Concord?

Yes, Class of 2007. He drove the Silver MS3 to school his senior year.
