Ford Shelby GT-H Auctioned for $250,000

It must be true that ignorance must be bliss. Yes the msp is a great handling car but to say I would be crying because my SS couldnt hanlde your msp on the road course is just silly. It's like you truely believe that it is the best handling car. Dude its already got one strike against it! It's wrong wheel drive. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. When people throw out the muscle car and non handling it mostly because the old orginal muscle cars that were heavy and really had no thoughts making turns. Granted my SS isnt the best handling car in the world but really doesnt have the much wrong with. I havent had too many problems with it. 275's at all four corners help keep my car planted pretty dare good.

I had the msp and I liked and sometimes I miss it. But I didn't enjoy the all the small issues that came with the car. The handling was great out of the box but didnt make up for what I didnt like about the car. Is the SS perfect, no. Do I enjoy the hell out of it everytime I drive it, YES!! Any car can be made to carve corners and that's what my pgt is tuned for(not to say I couldnt tune the SS for the samething. I just couldnt use the power that it has because of my lack of expirence). The SS is my fun car that always puts a smile on my face, something the msp could never do. Something alway seemed to disappoint me about the msp.

In regards to handling... a local guy here got a SRT-4 ... brought it back the next day and said he wanted his money back... horrible handling car... just for one example. Went and got the MSP the same day... I'm not saying the MSP is a "God" car... holy crap, us MSP owners know better, but it is a very well rounded auto from all sides... honestly, I really don't want much more horsepower than I have... but I like track driving... carving if you will... the car does well.

"When it came to proving itself at the track, the Proteg turned in the second fastest 0-to-60-mph time with a 7.9-second run, barely edging out the Nissan Spec V (8.0), but well behind the SRT's 6.3-second time. The Mazda's best lap time of 1:26.8 was the slowest of the four cars, but it trailed the Ford and the Nissan by only a few tenths of a second." - edmunds

Titanium and Flip and Funk are saying what I'm saying: It's not that the MSP is a Bad car, it's an AWESOME car in it's class but there is this prejudice against muscle cars that just not founded in fact I mean CTS-V a straight line car? NO WAY! That thing was built for power and handling!

Let's just stop deluding ourselves that an MSP can beat anything around a track.

I'm a MAZDA owner and a BIG mazda fan! But I know the limitations of my humble P5.

and as for the SRT-4 driver: He probably is a sucky driver. I mean it does need a few suspension mods but even stock, if you know it's handling limits and don't try to power-plow through the turns, the SRT-4 holds it's own.

Ya that is one clip from a site that basically praises the MSP... here's another:

Unfortunately for Mazda, the Proteg ran into a brick wall on its rise to glory in the form of the Dodge SRT-4. By single-handedly recalibrating what it means to be fast in this category, the SRT made the Proteg's added dose of power seem tame. The fact that it couldn't outrun the SRT at the track, however, didn't completely dull our enthusiasm for the Proteg, as it still managed to impress with its terrific handling, quick steering and upscale interior. In fact, when it came to picking which car they would choose for themselves, the majority of our editors picked the Mazda over the SRT.

okay and your point?? my point is that is the slowest on the track out of all those cars, including a focus. I love my msp but i've driven enough others cars to know that its really past its prime compared to all the new cars.

kinda like the mazdaspeed6 guys bitching because car and driver editors like the jetta better because of nicer interior.

I'm just saying that the MSP, from all angles, is a well rounded car compared to some. It is one of the slowest in a straight line because of it's lack of power from it's 2.0L compared to the SRT-4's 2.4L motor size difference (stock of course). The MSP is the funnest car I have ever driven. I just love to get in it every day and drive it through the spiraling roads.

BTW... I love this entire article... lot's of truth to it...

" Some people say turbocharging is "cheating" when it comes to performance, and the fact that Ford's SVT Focus makes the same peak number without forced induction gives some validity to the statement. But check the acceleration numbers and you see the Mazda beating the Ford by over a full second in 0-to-60-mph times. The Proteg even beat the more powerful and ultratorque-laden SE-R to 60 mph, though the Nissan managed to squeak past the Mazda by the end of the quarter-mile. And in terms of engine refinement and shifter operation, the Mazda made the Nissan feel like a classic muscle car in all the wrong ways."

BINGO!

You buy a car because you like it. But don't be deluded into thinking it's the best car ever!

Even if I got a GTO, I'd acknowledge that the styling is a little bland and it's on the heavy side but man would I have fun carving up some blacktop and obliterating those rear tires......but I in no way would think that MY GTO could outhandle a CTS-V or an EVO

Notice they said "Classic" Musclecar. Man trust me, be happy with your MSP. It handles incredibly and looks better than most compacts if not all of them but realize the limitations of your machine as well and don't say you could beat a CTS-V around a track.

All those cars listed are straight line cars... I'd put my MSP on a road course track against any of them any day of the week and have them crying because their handling sucks

GTO is a bargain, you can pick up a 04 for about 19k used and 05 400hp for about 24k used. You already know how much Jeremy Clarkson raves about them and he usually hate cars thats not british.

The only american car I would get is either the 67 Shelby or the 69 SS Camaro. Yea the new American cars are fast but there is nothing like that feeling.

you need to drive more cars. This would work for you in a couple of ways:

1. you would have more personal knowledge of many types of cars
2. understand the different aspects of cars
3. allow you to base your opinouns on first hand exepirences

lol thanks for signing up to tell us you like your american car, lets talk 50k miles down the road when i give you a lift after you car breaks down;)

FFFTL...guess what that means?

You have to be crazy..
In 50k miles he'll be getting better MPG then new and still going strong as long as he take care of it. And the resale will be better then what you have. If you are going to beat up on a ford, don't try it on the mustang or the trucks. You'll just look foolish.

The Thing is, I'm not even a huge new mustang fan. I think it's a little chunky styling wise and could stand to lose a little weight, but overall I respect it for what it can do. Look up the Top gear Vid of the New Stang driven by the stig keeping up with the Lotus Elise (the posterboy for handling and lightness) driven by clarkston (who is a decent driver) around the track then come tell me that muscle cars can't boogie!

my last car SVT contour was more fun to drive then my MSP. Engine and tranny was far better, dammit acutally I might buy another one. lol

"It's got Cammmz b****!"

SVT contours Ain't nothin to mess with! Awesome little sleeper cars that actually didn't look half bad! Shame about that interior though. Crappy interiors have long been domestics achilles heels in fact crappy interiors are one of the big reasons I've given up longing for an SRT-4. I actually like the exterior styling and the engine and powertrain are beyond reproach but the interiro is just.....ugh! I like my P5's interior 50x better!

Mustang = Worst Car ever created stock (ever rode in one?)...
Camaro = Better than the mustang somewhat (Got V6? pfft!)

Sure Mazda's are more or less Beer Cans on wheels but that's what makes it fun to tune and mod them. There are very few cars that are domestic I would trade my MSP for... VERY few. Denial?... no way y0... happy with the seat I am sitting in.

...not to mention, how often would a person pull up next to you in your Mustang at a stop light and go "WTF kind of car is that... that is nice... never seen one of those... WTF is a Mazdspeed?... SWEET!" ... never, that's how often...
Actually you could take that the bad way too. If I paid 17-22k for a car I would want people to know what it was. I would feel stupid if someone asked WTF kind of car is that. Especially when they just kicked my slow ass.

And I dont know how you can say the mustang sucks in stock form. Its only one of the top selling cars ever. This just sounds like SMALL CAR decease to me.
