myoplex is not good....but some people like it

do you have a smoothie king around you? I work there, and we have a drink called the Power Meal, which has the myoplex pack in it. It might be good for you to try that...I've never made one at home, but it had a weird consistency when I tried the smoothie at work....

hmmm...didn't see you were from canada, so you probably don't have a smoothie king....never mind! :)

good read... i'm gonna be a sucker 'n buy a bowflex (good deal on one) for my new apartment.. Strength training has always been a major weakness for me.. I used to run for 2 hours every day or every other day (at worst) and I lost like 40lbs in about 3 months, but plateau'd there... cardio will always only get you so far, i suppose.

bowflex is ******* tough if your starting out... dont be discouraged if you have to start really light. Its forces you to have good form which isnt a bad thing at all and is why alot of people see good results. Just a word of the wise.

gapeach hook me up(wiggle)

^^ wikkid.. thanks for the head's up...
i'm sure i'll refer back to here again once I'm done burning what amount of fat i have now.. but that'll take me probably 8-10mths to chew through all that (boom04)

I am back to working out again and I was wondering if anybody here buys those tubs of protien powder to mix with water/milk. Is there anything to look for when buying that stuff and does anyone recommend a certain brand?

I am not looking to buy stuff with Creatin or anything like that, just straight protien. I have a GNC in bottom of my building here in NYC and there is a TON of different kinds of this stuff. Back in the day I just used to buy this IronMan Protien from Pathmark and it seemed to do a decent job.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Check out NO-Xplode.. it is nitric oxide and creatine.. i jus finished a bottle and loved it..

dont take any protein, vitamin, or whatever other pills and powders out there on the market, just change your diet a little bit, and be conservative in whatever you decide to do for your workout, such as working out at a specific time on mon, wed, and fri..

Appreciate the response, could you elaborate on why u think so? Protien is protien in my opinion.

its what people say that dont understand... your exactly right protein is protein. I had a friend say that to me and well i look alot better then he does and we work out side by side.

you want protein but your body will only absorb certain amounts at one time. most average people are around 20-30 gram absorbtion rates at one sitting, most of these powders and shakes punch you with 60 and 70 grams of whey protein. thats a lot of unused protein and wasted money. make sure you have 3-4 hours in between large dosages of whey. When i was using shakes i would cut the powder to about 30 grams of protein, just do the math and figure a good ratio, i mixed with milk and that adds protein, then the rest of my protein i gained through meals, eat chicken after a work out. Most of what you will take in on the full strength shakes will just be hard on your kidneys and some will turn to fat.

i think it's better to get things in it's original form as much as possible and not something that is made unnatural. i dont eat alot of desserts and fast foods(i only go to subway, wendy's, chipotle, jojo's place, and panda express), but i eat alot of real food because my mom cooks 6 out of 7 days a week, such as real meat, friuts, and vegetables everyday. when i go to the store i usually get stuff out of the natural section, such as buying newman O's over Oreo's(i dont go to the store that much because my mom and sister go like 99% of the time). also, alot of things have hydrogenated compounds. hydrogenated compounds are unnatural compounds used to substitute for a real product, such as salt, sugar, and soybean. hydrogenated products are cheaper than real products, such as sugar cane, soybean, salt, and so on. so that's why the natural section of a grocery store has a smaller increase in price(the price is usually around $0.25 to $1.25 more). also, hydrogenated products stay in your body for a long time and makes it harder for your body to digest things smoother, and hydrogenated products are good for creating build up and fat. if you are wondering what im talking about, go into your kitchen and look at all the label ingredients in some of your food products. like 90% or more of it has something hydrogenated. see if you know what the other ingredients are, such as erythorbic acid(i know that it preserves freshness in drinks, but what is it exactly, and i cant pronounce it for anything). alot of people think i dont eat alot, but if i wanted to i could go through 2 large pizzas(one of my friends lost $50 on it because he thought i couldn't even eat one large pizza, and i will never do that again because i felt like crap for 2 days and didn't really eat anything the next day, so please no one do that). im 123lbs, 5'6 and 20 years old, 7% fat(might have gone up a little bit because i dont do as much exercise as i use to), so i look like i dont touch food that much. so the shape of your body is all about what you put into it. if you put bad things into it year after year, you will end up having problems later on in life. is that what your looking for in an answer, and if i've confused you, just ask me what you want me to explain. :)

yeah i was going to say that too because people tend to over do it thinking they are getting more protein, thanks for covering that scott.

Not sure if this was said or not but your body needs 1 gram of protein for every 1lb of weight you are if you are into serious bodybuilding. The average diet consits mostly of carbs and we usually get more carbs then protein. So on a average the regular guy probably gets only 50-80 grams of protein a day at best. You can use soy in your diet via the natural way , its cheaper, but will give you lots of gas. I have always used Nitro Tech, which taste great and has 40 grams of protein per serving with only 19 grams of carbs. It has worked fine for me and have put about 30lbs of muscle over a 3 year period.

total agree there is a math to the whole process... im never to hardcore about it.

to other comment ill have to take a finger and read the rest (use pargraphs) but i really dont have the luxury of my mom to cook me food and i dont eat any fast food other then publix subs. Thus my need for added proteins.

having a mom to cook for you is definitely a luxury i love to have. finding a girlfriend to do that is so hard to do because everyone i've had couldn't cook anything other than the basic stuff, so i hope i can luck out and have a wife that is as good as my mom.
