For those who have done n/a mods

"Fast" is a relative term. Race a SmartCar? Yes, the P5 is "fast". But pretty much try to race everything out there and we're screwed... (sadbanana)

Yeah. I like my N/A P5 with reliability, thanks. I'm not saying I'm fast, perhaps spritely, but it's fun to drive and that's all that really matters to me. Plus buying new parts are like my Lego sets when I was a kid. I just like the mechanical part of adding parts and working on my car.

s***, mine went "BOOM!" and I wasn't boosting... I guess it happens.

too bad their arent any twisties in florida :(

HAHA Dude just look for ranch roads.(deadhorse lol there's a really good one over here in north pinellas called patterson. there is like 3 stretches and on a stock Protege5 (mine :P) you can get up to 90mph. the rest is S-turns and turns that range from 75- 110 degrees. lol fun as hell

P5 is a really good car, just needs the right combo of parts. N/A is really good for torque. Boosted isw for Highway (Gandy and sunshine skyway)(whip)

The cost of driving the car you want :)
That's why I'm gonna start piecing together my built engine though....so I can run MORE boost, safely hehe

That's why my projected engine replacement budget includes a fully built engine...

along with a few other things trying to take care of some of the weakest links.
(weakest)

Are there any other good, cheap, ecu flashes available for our cars?

I want to upgrade my alternator but I've read that it will fry the ecu. So could I get an ecu from a similar car with a better alternator? Any ideas?

Not to sound like a jerk, but it seems a LOT of P5's are going BOOM lately. What gives? Are cats just reving them too high? Turning up the boost too high? 1st gear to 2nd gear to 1st gear shifts?

I've have three modded Hondas and now my Mazda and have taken very good care of the motors and never had a blown motor. (knock on wood)

I never installed the mods with the illusion that they would turn my Slow-te-ge 5 in to a Fast-te-ge 5. I expected my car to be a bit more fun, and it was. In that sense, I believe it was worth it to me. (key words: "to me")

QFT. People mod for many reasons...I personally mod because I like doing it, and it improves my car. I haven't done a mod that I have not regretted or needed. The header replaced a broken J-pipe, the inserts were necessary because my stock mounts were shot, and the ss and bushings vastly improved shifting when coupled with the weighted knob. The MP3 ecu I scored from a yard for $100 and the drivability of the car went way up. The intake was probably the only "selfish" mod. Probably $700 worth of mods, and when I get the $175 used Magnaflow Catback on, I'll probably call it a day (maybe a UDP also). In any case, I like my car customized myself, and that's the main reason I mod. A race car it ain't, but it's my car and I love it the way it is.

pulley,SS,intake, then corksport power series and youll be set

do not get a header if u get the corksport or a catless midpipe+CBE, it will sound like ass trust me lol
i have an UDP, SS, CAI, CBE and Header and i love my car for once now
i have a bunch of non performance mods but i didnt want to make a huge list lol

edit: ^^ u cant do that to a protege cuz there is no aftermarket support
and because they dont have vtec, u guys may make fun of it, but thats how all the hondas are making big power
2.4L k series honda motor=240hp N/A
2.4L TURBO dodge motor=240hp FI
2.3L TURBO Mazda motor= 263hp FI

i just think its crazy what honda does with there valve timing

Agreed. if you are going to mod just to be the fastest and get mad about someone having a better car....then why? enjoy what u have and be proud of it. its YOUR creation and its unique.

(drinks)cheers!! (burnout)

Unless you have tons of car audio stuff, do the UDP. Trust me. Low-end gains + less A/C drain = win.
