For those looking for Cam Gears

timing and nitrous can be important, thats possibly one of the reasons linux blew his engine cause he has advanced timing on the mp3

What is going to be the time frame for the MSP dyno run? I am interested in the gears, but I want to see how things turn out before I purchase.

Thanks for the info.

It won't be dyno'd until the World Challenge race's are done. So I would estimate 1 - 3 months.

i second the motion on whether or not these will work with nitrous

Cam Gears will work for the car even with nitrous. Only thing is the specs that we give you is for a N/A motor and not for Nitrous. So if you PLAN on installing it yourself with out a Dyno to tune it... I wouldn't do it. If you are going to have it professionally installed and tested and tuned on the Dyno for your Nitrous kit, then you will be able to optimize it.

well unless someone else provides the results:

1) there is a dyno about 1.5 hours away
2) the gears will end up costing like 450 bucks with dyno time

I mean it depends on what type of person you are... If you wanted it done right thats what they would cost. I'm just putting info out to let people know they are out there thats all.

Guys all cam gears do is let you adjust in degrees when the valves open and close.

I would think that the intake cam would be open as long as possible to get more air in. As well you want more exhaust gas to spool up the turbo.

damn edwin speakin of post whoring youve been posting more and more lately? are there less members left to flame over at protegeclub now? :D

i think hes referring to the fact that hondatomazda has bumped this thread like 50 times today lol

Suggested reading to fully understand the use of cam timing adjustment gears:

Modern Engine Tuning by A. Grahame Bell, but be sure to get the 1997 updated version.

Basically, no factory grinds cams perfectly. Engine power is very sensitive to cam timing (intake reversion, exhaust pull through). Even a couple of degrees change can make a difference.

As stated above in this thread, +7whp on a 110whp (est.) engine is a small but significant difference. Downside is expense with no guaranteed gains.

no one really cares about the damn cam gears... everyone KNEW they existed and they know where and how to get them when they do care... there is no point in this thread nor any of the post whoring bumps.... its nice to share stuff with people but when you post all excited about like it's a brand new find and thing, you sound like a total n00b and that gets annoying quick because you not only posted 1 thread, but post dupes in at least 2 other sections... let's not mention the fact that people ALREADY KNEW about this for the PAST YEAR.... and no one here are complete retards in regards of what cam gears CAN do for performance
and why is this thread bumped? because you want it attention that doesn't deserved so... if it had REAL good info, it would have been stickied a long time ago without any of this bulls***
