Fogging Lense

The lense on my 1990 Protege is really getting fogged to the point of barely being able to see at night. Is there any way to clean them or are there cheap replacements out there? Thanks.

I'm assuming that you mean the fogging is not due to condensation. You can refresh them with polishing compound and a buffer. 3M makes the best for this. Be sure not to put much pressure on the buffer. Just hold it steady with light pressure. A customer of a friends performance shop Armourall'd her headlights on her mustang and it pitted the plastic lens. We buffed it out with some 3M polishing compound and they came out great.

Where can I get the 3M polishing compound?

Also check to see if the "fogging" is outside or inside. Usually the lens needs to be cleaned from the inside.

Well 3M polishing compound should be available at most automotive paint stores. (not pep boys or autozone, but real automotive paint supply stores)

If the fogging is due to condensation it's on the inside. That can be fixed with a hairdyer blown in through one of the holes for the light bulbs. fogging on the outside is due to damage from particulates in the air, which effectively sandblast the plastic as well as chemical pitting due to pollution. Pitting on the inside is very rare.

Not only is 3M polishing compound good for the final touches on a paint job and restoring plasitc headlight lenses, but it's also good for getting rid of headlight sealant that may have gotten on your headlight when you bake and take them apart.
