Fog Lamps

I got foglights as a dealer installed option, just waiting for them to come in. I have the sport no power seat, but I'm not sure if the dealer realizes this, as they didn't mention it would be a problem. I've already paid the 450 for the lights and installation. Any suggestions as to what they are going to say when they figure out there is no wiring harness there? lol

They will tell you thay can not putt the lights in or that you have to buy power seats.

You should make them offer you something free for them lying to you telling you that you could have fogs when in fact you cant. LOL

Well just because the car isn't prewired for them doesn't mean he can't have fog lights. They will just have to wire something up.

I was able to put Fogs on my V6 Mustang. The switch was a bit different, but they worked.

Well I took mine into the dealer to get it done, and they installed the lights, etc.
But called and told me, obviously, that there is no wiring harness. They got me an appointment with a custom wiring/trim/whatever company Monday though who is supposed to wire it for me. So i guess its win-win

Well they just installed them today. They didn't wire them into the factory headlight stalk coming from the steering wheel for whatever reason. The place put a switch where the TCS switch is. They work though, they said it took them like 4 hours of labor to get it done. I dunno if they just suck or if it takes awhile, but the dealership is footing the bill hehe.

I asked him about changing the bulbs and he said the fogs look like a sealed unit which could make changing the bulbs difficult. Has anyone changed out the bulbs on them, do they just come right out like the headlight bulbs?

edit: nevermind, i pulled up the installation instructions and it tells how to change the bulbs:)

They're JDM and not available in the US. I want them too, but I have no idea where you can get them (not via japanparts.com, I know that). :(

Pics? Anyone have PN's for the foglights, brackets, etc etc basically everything you need to put them in a non fog car? We have a touring but it didn't have the foglights on it and she wants them. So wanted to put them in for her but don't want the dealership doing it if it's already wired it will be simple to do myself as I work on cars for a living. But I wanted PN's to check around for prices as I don't pay retail for stuff but need PN's to call in my orders. so if anyone has a bill from having them do this post it up or let me know. Thanks

Lorenzo

Or just buy the kit from an online mazda parts store. the P/n is EG21V7220F. didn't read the posting restrictions on the site, so I just put the part number. the trademotion and finishline sites both have them for about 200 bucks. Oh yeah, makes sure to find out which light switch stalk comes with the kit.

Thanks for the PN's both of ya. Wife has been on me about getting them done and I just been so busy lately. But will check the prices out. I wish I had a hookup for mazda parts. I can get any american part for 10 over dealership cost with my business accounts. But I don't have a mazda hookup. Going to check with a friend of mine that owns a body shop I am sure he probably gets deals due to ordering alot of stock parts for any car basically. Maybe I will get lucky if not I will find a online place that gives discounts. I know I have a good online place for dodge discounts but of course my local dealership gives me the same discount when I walk in so never used it. I just use it to get quotes instead of calling when I need to look something up. Much easier then waiting on hold and them to do it.

Thanks again though....

Oh one more thing I forgot to ask.... I looked on mazda's site it shows 250 for the foglights not 200 like someone said. Just wondering is there any discount online mazda places that sell mazda parts???

Kinda like this site I use for dodge stuff for my other vehicle...
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214666

Basically they sell stuff on the site above at 10 percent over dealership cost so you save a bundle on the expensive stuff. I got a bumper which retailed at over 425 dollars for my dodge for just over 200 with my discount at my local dealership which is basically the same as the website above gives people online.

Well let me know if anyone knows this.

If you can shoot me a e-mail or post it I will try to check back if I can. Wanted to get these foglights for x-mas for the wife.

http://www.mazda-parts.com/partscat.html

Just found this place said it was 198.25 for the foglights so getting better didn't know what kind of discount that is but I put a request into another place online that said they do free shipping on any order over 150 bucks so waiting to hear back from them it's a mazda dealership in Cincinatti OH

Lorenzo

Edit just picked them up from http://www.mazdadiscountparts.com/ Paid 200 shipped for it.
I was wondering I just realized there was 2 PN's for the switch how do I know what one will be in the kit and what one I will need? Starting to worry about the switch bit because the parts should be here soon but I don't know what to do about it if it's wrong that will suck... Anyone know what switch comes with it and if it will be the right one for me and how do I tell it will be the right one?

Enabling the fog lights to run without the headlights and or installing fog lights on a CX7 without the power seat wiring harness is a simple procedure.

First open the steering column and remove the turn/light selector or look at the turn/light selector that came with your fog light kit from Mazda. Look at the wiring and you will see a brown wire (goes to the fog lamp switch) and 2 white wires. Use an ohm meter to identify which white wire is for the fog lamps. Cut the brown wire and white wire at the plug (not at the switch) and solder small gauge wires on to the cut white and brown wire. Make sure that each wire is long enough to reach well under the hood. Dont forget to seal the free end of the wires at the plug. Reinstall the switch and route the long wire along the steering column trough the rubber boot and into the engine compartment.
At almost any auto parts store, pick up a good 12 volt relay (Bosch) for installing aftermarket fog and or driving lights, spades terminals for the relay and one for taping into the accessories power supply in the fuse panel under hood. For those without the seat wiring harness you can also pick up the needed plugs for connecting to the fog lights and wire to make your wiring harness. It is a good idea to pick up some of the flexible split tubing to run the wire in. This makes your job much neater.
Without the seat wire harness you will need to make a harness to connect the two fog lights back to the battery and relay. Your ground or black wire from the fog lights should go to the battery negative terminal and the red or power to a terminal (87) on the relay. One wire from the light switch goes to ground and one to a terminal (85) on the relay. Then a wire from the accessories power source to a terminal (86) on the relay. You will need to identify which terminals are which from the wiring diagram on the relays package. The accessories power terminal is located in the fuse panel which is under the hood a few inches from the battery. To identify the accessories power terminal use a volt meter set at 15 volts; common or black lead to the negative battery terminal and then locate a terminal that has power with the key on and does not have power with the key off.

If you use one of the bosch relaysterminals 85 and 86 are for the light switch. Terminal 30 is power from your battery and terminal 87 is power to your lights. Terminal 87a supplies power when the relay is not energized.

For those with fog lights who want to them isolated from your head lights you will need to cut your wire harness and tap into the relay like above. Remember to seal the live wires you cut under the hood. Better to leave your harness intact except for the switch and follow the above directions.

Not to bring up an old topic...

But I tried to use the instructions above to install foglamps. Im not sure if a year difference has anything to do with this, but on the 2009 model, the instructions are TOTALLY WRONG. There is no brown nor white wires in the clip that connects the the headlight/fog stwitch.

To those wanting to install fogs.

Buy some H11 connectors, make your own harness connecting them together, and put the power/ground wires to a relay, getting the relay switch's power from the headlight. This will make them come on with your headlights. PM me if you need any details.
