fmic install

just received my fmic and im going to take on the install next weekend, and while i was looking over the directions and under the "tools needed" section it mentioned the need for:
stock power steering fluid
radiator fluid

i was just wondering if anyone who has done the install themselves has anything to say about this, i've just never heard anyone mention it, is it really necessary? is it just necessary in topping of the fluids after you're done? if so, can i just get some at autozone?

thanks guys! [i hate when people ask these questions too...]

I think they must want you to disconnect radiator hoses and the power steering lines or pump..... I haven't heard about anyone needing to actual do this though

Saving for a fmic myself too, so let me know if you guys figure out if this is kit specific.

Yeah they mroe than likely want you to disconnect that stuff to make it easier. There are lot of ways to do things though. Just go to autozone liek you said and get some just in case you end up havign to mess with it. better to have it then to have to get a ride and pick some up.

Which kit do you have?

If you have the CPE, it includes a new coolant hose for the ride side, so the pipe going to the turbo can come up. You'll have to pull the current host, drain it, and then put more in before you can start up.

As for the power steering, the CPE also includes a new PS cooler, which mounts to the top of the intercooler. You'll take the factory one off, which you'll see is pretty silly looking compared to the new one.

If you have any other questions, let me know.I installed my CPE FMIC less than a month ago.

1 gallon radiator fluid
1 bottle power steering fluid

yes u need them....and put down alot of new paper...its gonna get messy!!

thank you! who knows, i might have to take you up on that.

ya i have the cp-e fmic too you are going to need to change the radiator hose out casue with the stock hose it well finda push it together and the power steering cooler is relocated above the intercooler so it can do its job better and cools better too. it was messy but it was worth it

What is everyone doing about the air duct that leads to the battery box after they install a FMIC?
