CX-5
I've been trying to figure it out, but there seems no way to have all the stations in my presets list always on the screen, well at least what will fit. Every time you want to change stations you have to go back to favorites. How stupid is that. Am I missing something?

I know you can scroll through favorites from the wheel, but I like seeing presets.

Still loving the CX-5, but the infortainment systems has something to be desired. And people ripped on BMW's first idrive, which I always loved.

Thanks, jjp

Funny you should mention the idrive. I read somewhere recently that, even though the early idrive was difficult to learn (hence the constant rants from auto journalists who only drove the cars for a short time) many owners found they liked the setup after spending enough time with it. I don't think anyone would say that about the early Mazda infotainment system!

They must have been some stupid auto journalist that find the idrive hard to learn. It was the easiest thing to pick up. After 4 years of using it, I still love it. I like the simplicity of it, I think they are making them way to complicated now. One Home button is enough, now they are just adding button after button around the wheel. Soon the wheel will be gone.

I think what people complain about is how you can go in and do all kinds of changes, to vent fan settings for each level and seat warming levels for seat and back and all kind so stuff. But they are items you very rarely go into once you have them set.

I surely didn't my my CX-5 for the infotainment system, it's the one thing I don't like after 5 weeks of owning. Good think I really like driving the CX-5 and it is the perfect size for me and the little on.

I was referring to "early" Idrives like from ten years ago. If yours is from a 2011 or so (4 years old), that was after they were simplified.

the onscreen touch controls are usually disabled when the vehicle is in motion (unless you used the tweaks to override that)
so from that perspective, it makes sense to have to use the commander controls
... so the faves becomes your preset list really

That is what I'm saying, you have to go back to favorites each time you want to change channel or use the steering wheel control. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Sorry did I say that enough. Maybe it's just I really don't like Mazda infotainment system, but I like my first ever Mazda.

My passenger was trying to put in a zip code to nav, each time it kept coming up with suggestions and then would gray numbers out until we stopped and put it in park. Who designed this thing. They say it's been upgraded since they first came out, but it still sucks. Mines a 2016. Another point, Bose center point system with no eq. Really?

I guess I should be posting in the things I don't like about my 2016, but really it's only the infotainment system that is poorly done. I love the rest of the car.

As for the idrive, i have 2005 545i and I love the first gen idrive. I've used the newer version of idrive and it's way more complicated then mine. At least to me it is.
