Flywheels

Ok guys, like I said in another post, I drove an 03 MP5 the other day and absolutely loved it. One thing I did notice though, during shifts, the Rev's tend to hang for a while before dropping. This is usually because of an overweight flywheel. Does anyone know how heavy the flywheel is, and has anyone tried a lightened flywheel yet? Also, if anyone is running a lightened flywheel, are they using a scattershield? Also, is there any company which specializes in mazda drivetrain parts? Thanks!

Stock is about 18-19 lbs. Mazdaspeed has one that is about 15 lbs. You can get aluminum ones that are about 8-9 lbs.

I doubt the protege will push enough power to require a scatter shield. You'll break a rod first.
