Florida Weather (1 / 6/ 10)

My wife got in her Passat this morning and it started, lucky her. lol but she heard a warning sign going off, when she looked at the amb. temp it showed snow flakes, it was only 39* out. Not to mention 27 last night, it was 41* and felt like 20*.

seriously? your CARS are even that spoiled down there? my car doesn't even put up a fight about starting until about the 0*F mark... and I may or may not have the OEM battery in my car (looks like it but I bought it at 5 years old so who knows)..

Windchill was 8 the other day down south AL and my Honda cranked right up (origional battery - 6+yrs!!)

i have a optima yellow top battery and that s*** fails.. car doesnt even want to crank in the morning sometimes lol

Being cold in Florida has nothing to do with "spoiled". Nothing is engineered in this state for sustained periods of cold weather. If you don't live here its easy to not understand. I was not even this cold when I lived in Philly. While the temps might not be as low, it still feels colder down here. No one lives here to test their cold tolerance. At least no one with a fully functional brain.

True

the car sold in FL is the same one sold in WI, maybe minus heated seats and mirrors... the engineering and battery are the same... what am I not understanding?

Not that it matters(understanding) but I am not even referring to a car battery as this is a cold in FL thread.

I dont think you can purchase a car with a block heater in florida new that is... dont know but I have yet to hear of anyone mention that option on a new car down here.

only block heater I've seen in the last few years is on a heavy duty truck. maybe I'm just not looking very hard, but i haven't seen one offered. maybe its a dealer custom thing?
