Flatfoot or powershifting

Ok I found my old eclipse ET's and Gtech times from the last time I went to the track with that car (before most of the mods ;)). Here is the break down for those that were curious about the Gtech/track comparison

Track Time------------ G-tech---------------Difference
15.113@96.12mph-----15.08@102mph-------.033@5.88
14.851@82.72mph??---14.84@98mph--------.011@15.28???
14.737@95.84mph-----14.69@100.5mph-----.047@4.66
15.210@92.17mph-----15.10@97.9mph------.110@5.73
last run wheel hopped so bad the gtech fell off windshield!!!!

Something happened to the trap speed during the second run but all the others are not too far off.

what is everyones deffinition of powershifting??? my understanding of it is a WOT shift. one of my friends was trying to tell me it was a clutchless shift which would go under douple clutching. and then another was telling me it was throwing the shifter into gear heavy arms.

I just think of powershifting as quick shifting.

I press the clutch enough to open it and then let go when i got the gear in place. that quick.

I saw that Cobb came out with a tune for flatfoot shifting and launch control for the subys maybe they will have something simiar for the speed...from wat i understood it allows you to hold the throttle at wot on launch but limit the rev to a certain rpm then once the clutch is engaged the limit is removed...this allows you to build up full boost and have a more powerfull launch...then while driving it lets u stay WOT while shifting...it limits the rev again while the clutch is engaged and then when realeased rev limit will be back to normal...

yeah that would be nice

I just watched Cobbs video about that AP feature the other night, would be nice insurance in case of a missed shift

dkswim,
We're talking about shifting gears without letting off the gas at all, keep your foot to the floor. If you lift between shifts, the car hesitates when you let the clutch out and get back to full throttle. When you powershift, there is no hesitation after the gear change, just smooth power delivery

Far as the clutch, personally I use the clutch albeit very quickly and probably not even fully engaged on those types of shifts. A trans can be built to shift without using the clutch but oem car transmissions are not, unlike oem motorcycle transmissions

thanks man, that helps a lot, and mimics what I've heard from others. ET is nearly dead on while trap speed is not due to the way it measures absolute speed compared to the track that uses an average
