As I was searching on tuning the cx-9 I found that it is very possible to do that... CX-7 owners have come up with a flash tunes for the CX7

for people who don't know what a flash tuning does, it's the best way to make use of your car power.. it is done by flashing the ECU with new firmware that will boost the power of the car at the same time lift the top speed limit.. yes thats true you can go as fast as 136 mph.. 220 km/h

these are the results before and after tuning he CX7

Stock.
0-100kmh = 8.20 seconds @ 132kw peak.

Tuned.
0-100kmh = 7.82 seconds @ 150kw peak.

My point is we CX-9 owners need to work on a flash tune, please expert on this forum hear me out... there are so many cx-9 owners out there that dreams of tuning their car, I'm one of them.

let us work together by sharing info on how to flash a ECU and from where to get the parts, etc..

I don't know much about cars and tunes, but I'm willing to learn from people that know and guide me through and tell me what parts needed, i'm willing to buy each and every single part.

I'm dying for this.

I want to know if you guys agree with me and willing to work on this mega project.

Cheers

Aussie CX9's are speed limited to 180kph, not that I intend to go over that but I think it is unnecessary to put a limit on it, in a local car Magazine, a test produced a top speed of 181kph in the CX9 (speed limited) and 207kph in the Subaru Tribeca which was not limited.

As far as flash tuning goes, there are much greater gains to be made in the CX7 because it is a TURBO, because they can increase the boost pressure and make mammoth gains, for example, my last car was a turbo and it went from 240kw to 305kw with just a tune.
However, in saying that, it is still possible to pick up about 20 trouble free kw with a CX9 if the software and a good tuner was available.

I know but lifting the speed limit and increasing power a little is good enough.. people with expertise out there here is a question for you, Is it possible to do a flash tune for the CX-9 and how to do that?

I reckon some work on a better CAI set up, create better flow through the exhaust but keep the noise level to a minimum and add a good quality tuneable piggyback chip will give you great results also.

Smoother power delivery, better fuel economy, noticable increase in Kw's and torque.

Maybe not what your looking for Blueyo because you would not be able to change the speed limiter with this type of set up, but the rest of us that rarely pass 140kph on the open road would appreciate the extra grunt under foot.......zoom zoom

Hi Clarko, sounds like you had a XR6T. They are absolute weapons with the right mods. I had the first BA model XR6 N/A for a short time and I had a mate of mine do some work to her. You may have heard of RDP (Redcliffe Dyno & performance) here in Brisbane, well Steve installed a piggyback chip, extractors, 2.5inch exhaust, 2nd CAI, K&N filter, platinum plugs and results were outstanding for a non turbo with just bolt on mods.

Before = 162.5rwkw
After = 193.7rwkw
Torque increased by 90Nm
Quarter mile= 14.6@97mph

I should ask if he could install a chip in the CX9 just for interests sake(drive2)

Spot on Aussie CX9, it was an XR6T with tune, CAI and exhaust it had ..........286rwk and did the quarter in 12.8@118mph.

Sorry to kill your hopes but the flashing a NA engine like the our CX9's will not yield gains similar to a turbochanged engine.

Forced induction engines just responds better to tuning. My Subaru gained a dyno proven +50 HP and +90 lb/ft torque to the wheels with a pro-tune and of course some supporting bolt on mods (catless up pipe, turbo-back exhaust, and AVO top mount intercooler being the major ones). All that with a stock turbo and fueling.

Yeh, as stated in post number "2" its called increasing the boost!!!

turbo motors can be tweaked easily. I had numerous Nissan 300ZX twin turbos and by modding the "brain" the turbo motor gained 100hp and the normally aspirated motor would only gain around 20hp. For $600 it was a great gain if you had a turbo.

Hello Blueyo & QATARI CX9,
Just to check with you guys if any updates from your side with respect to getting rid speed limiter and speed alarm. Thanks

Hi guys,

I'm also looking for a way to get rid of the speed limiter in my CX-9. I love beating everybody at the traffic light when the light turns green but it makes me want to puke when they catch up with me at 160kmph. Gosh, what an upset!!!!

Hi Mustang96Girl,
i assumed you are in one of the country in Middle East, otherwise you wouldn't mentioned about speed limiter. Blueyo, Qatari CX9 and me have been waiting and looking for solution. That's make you the fourth person. Welcome to the UPSET SPEED LIMITER CLUB....hehehe... I'm planning to drive to Dubai in July, and hopefully, the tuner overthere can do something about the speed limit and speed buzzer.

CX9 SportOwner,
That's the spirit. DON'T EVER GET BEATEN BY V8's.

Thanks Semrz1,

I'm glad that you guys are working hard to find out how to fix this thing. I mean I spent about two weeks on the internet looking for performance chips but I couldn't find anything for the Mazda's 2008 3.7 Ltr V6. Good Luck with your trip to Dubai!!!

Mustang96Girl from Bahrain!

Over and out...

Hello Mustang96Girl,
No probelmo. If i get any positive outcome, will definitely share with everyone. By the way, Bahrain is just a coastal highway from where I'm leaving now. Let's meet up if I'm in Bahrain and we can talk about cars...
