Ladies and gentlemen, your Veyron-killer is here. Today marks the delivery date of the first production Lotus Elise-based, ZR-1 powered supercar known as the Hennessey Venom GT. While several engine configurations are available, including 725-hp and 1000-hp versions, chassis #01 packs the full 1200-hp punch. All that twin turbocharged madness has only 2,800 pounds to move around, which results in a power to weight ratio about 70% better than a Bugatti Veyron. The Ricardo 6-speed transmission, the same unit used in the Ford GT, is geared to 260 mph. Its also cheaper and rarer than the Veyron. And it actually looks good.

Any guesses as to where Venom # 01 is going? If you said the middle east, you win obvious points. Hopefully some crazy shiekh wants to go mess around in public and put it on YouTube. Were going to go take our Veyron posters down now.

Good thing I never had Veyron posters up!! I fricken hated that car.

Still love the McLaren F1. Best road car ever....and it just happened to go over 240, opps.

theres just something weird about the shape of this car...sure it's fast as all hell, but it kinda makes me wanna vomit

they messed with the dimensions of the Elise/Exige. What was once perfect, is now stretched and disfigured...

They had to so they could put a 700-1200 hp V8 in the boot. Kinda hard to go from a 4 banger to 750hp turbocharged V8 in the original body.

I understand why they did it, but it still looks wrong.

I'd still drive it. And probably wrap it around a pole before I even figure out where 2nd gear is...

To me, it is not the same as the Veyron. I am not taking down any posters of the Veyron yet (If I had any.) This car is a mash up of a few different vehicles and parts and looks it. The Veyron looks complete and like it was put together with a central theme from the start rather than what would work with other maker's parts. The Veyron is the complete package and I doubt that the Venom GT has the interior that can keep up with the Bug either. It's Apples to Oranges.

If by a complete package you mean a car that was built to be a luxury land yacht that can achieve speeds of 250mph only after calling the company, receiving a special key, and getting a set of tires used only for high speed runs then yeah its a complete package.

The Veyron was the WORST way to go about making a car. They did just about everything possible to make sure it would not go fast then changed nothing and added more stuff to make sure, in the end, it would go fast.

Seriously it weights 4,000+ POUNDS.

But take my comments as you will because I am Veyron Hater and a McLaren Lover.

I love cars like the Veyron, F1, and LF-A. Why? Because they're engineering exercises. Not practical or economical to the company, but because they can pull out all the stops and really show you what they're capable of. Who cares how much it costs or what it weighs, it can do these things because of the know-how behind it that designed it from the ground up.

This car is just a mish-mash of a motor and body, and then turned up to 11.Still cool, but in a different way.
