First CEL on Mazdaspeed3

I just threw a CEL light also, about 3 days ago. I'm bringing the car in on Tuesday. It's a 45 minute drive there and back. I'm not pleased.

Let me know what happens with this. I just threw my second CEL on Saturday. Weird part about this one... The CEL came on around 10am on Saturday morning. I had a lot of errands to run so I was out almost all day. I drove around for about 1 hour without turning the car off, then I went to the store. Came back out, turned the car on, CEL is gone now. I say great! I get in the car Sunday morning CEL comes back on after 5 mins of driving and stays on. Today, I get in the car to go to work, CEL is still on. I fill up the tank around 5pm, making sure I screw the gas cap on tight. I get back in and turn on the car, CEL is gone.

Hopefully it was just a loose gas cap. I've got about 5 hours of driving to do tomorrow for sales meetings. I'll report back here and pass along whether the CEL comes back or not. I think me and my evap system are having a duel (enguard)

add me to the list

around 2500 miles currently.

I'm at about 2,100 miles and the CE light came on today. I hope it is the purge valve. I could not get an appointment at the dealer until next Wednesday. Ugh. I'll post when I find out what is going on.

I just got my second CEL repaired. It was a VCS valve (Variable Circuit Sensor or something like that). They replaced it and everything is ok for now.

1700 miles on my car. CEL just came on. Took it over to the dealer and they said they had to modify the intake. I have no idea what that means. I pick up the car in the morning. I will have some more info. I will let you know what they say.

Had to modify the intake? You have no idea what that means? You didn't ask right then and there?

The guy left a voicemail and by the time I was able to get the message he had already gone home.

This is the second time I've heard of the CEL being linked to an intake problem. Something about the metal in the runners? I heard the replacement parts are not available until January. Please let us know as soon as you find out the problem. This is unbelieveable.

Okidoki---> No service guys there on Saturday.....Ro#243, Line #1: Inspected vehicle and found code P2006 stored for intake maifold runner control. Called tech line and advised to enlongate manifold holes.Cleared codes and check operation. I think maybe the holes are too small and opening them up a little will allow a little more air into the motor. I am pretty sure I feel a difference in the car. It seems to be a little more responsive than before. But I could be wrong.

there have been multiple isolated cases of P2006 issues... on the non-turbo engines, replacement of the intake manifold is necessary (at present time) due to the TSCV position sensor being built into the TSCV electric actuator... on the turbo engines, the sensor is mounted separately from a vacuum actuator... elongating the holes is an attempt to position the sensor closer to the actual TSCV control rod's striker so that the sensor can produced a "closed TSCV" signal to the ECU

affected vehicles known so far are mazda3s, mazda5s, mazda6s, and cx-7s... this includes the mazdaspeed versions

the P2006 code means the ECU is not seeing the TSCV being closed and thinks the TSCV is stuck open... it is not catestrophic but may reduce low end torque and increase emissions

mazda engineers are working on a repair kit for this problem... it will be at least mid january before it is out and a TSB will be released then as well

Thanks for the information. This totally sucks, though. I was stoked about the new Speed3 -willing to give Mazda a try since I have been a Nissan guy for years. And they already have a pretty big issue and no parts to fix it! That's incredibly WEAK! My CEL went off two days ago and has not returned, but I'm still going to take it to the dealer on Wednesday as planned and give them an earful.

Pretty big issue?
Your cars runs ok right? It didn't leave you stranded right?
Pah...it's nothing. They will fix it, big deal. It a machine, they break.

With the CEL on the car ran fine. There was nothing in the way the car responded would make me believe there was a problem. I actually raced (kind of) a mustang gt down the highway. Had the car up to 102 and no problems. The car ran normally all the way to the dealership. I put a 100 miles on since the CEL was fixeed and it is all good up to this point.

my wife got home on saturday all upset that her cel came on (CX-7) so i had a good chuckle at her. On sunday mine came on (MS3) now i'm gutted cos i've got to take 2 cars back.

Jheer- about Nissan, they suck, i sold my Titan cos the dealer couldnt fix anything, took 3 times to clear the tyre pressure warning light. last straw was when paint started peeling off the corner of the bed just by the back window. Again, Nissan suck, part french owned now too.

Haha, I'm just hoping I don't have to deal with sway bar clunks and squeaks, lurching under partial throttle due to crappy fuel mapping, intermittent Kenwood head unit blackouts and a malfunctioning security module that leaves my car's battery dead in the parking lot this time around. Mazda is lucky they got a repeat buyer this time around, the MS3 is their last chance to bring me back for more (glare)

I had a 06 Nissan Frontier with a ton of problems. I had it only 5 months and could deal with the issues anymore. The dealership couldnt fix a rattle noise from under the truck. It was in the shop 4 times and was apparent since I took delivery of the truck.
Now having a check engine light on my AGAIN NEW CAR really doesnt bug to much. I am becoming really good friends with the people at Enterprise Rental Car. It is part of owning a high performance machine, lol.So far light has stayed off and car is a dream to drive.

I forgot to mention that this problem only occurs in cold weather, hence why there's people getting these problems right now and not earlier in the year

yup, thats been my experience. I did get the VCS valve replaced which is what threw the P2006 code and the CEL hasn't come back yet. There have been a couple of really cold days since then so this is promising.
