Finally got one!

Thanks! I'm really pumped. It's been a long time coming.

I don't have pics yet (except for a couple I took with my blackberry), but I definitely plan on it. It is completely stock at this point, so probably nothing you haven't seen before. I'll find some time in the next couple of days to take pictures and post some pics.

I finally got my 2008.5 Black Mica mazdaspeed 3 last night. I'm a happy guy!

Congratulations. Break her in right and she'll make you very happy for a very long time. That also applies to wife or girlfriend, or wife AND girlfriend! In the interest of gender fairness and to be PC, we can substitute husband/boyfriend in my observation. lol.

LOL.

i just passed 1k and ready to ride her hard. my girlfriend too! (lol2)

ya...I'm treating her easy right now. Is it recommended to do an oil change at 1,000 miles? The place I bought my speed at gives free oil changes for the life of the car, but scheduled the first one at 5,000 miles. I was told by a friend, with a new car, you should go ahead and get one done at 1,000.

thanks!

welcome!

i changed mine at 3500... then in with the synthetic...

treating it easy... pshhhhhh... get on that thing! i subscribe to the 'run the piss out of it from day one' party...

just turned over 8000 in ours... major spg (smiles per gallon) :)

Congrats. Enjoy the new ride. It's not the fastest, doesn't corner the best, isn't the most comfy car on the road... but it's the best possible compromise of all those things.

As for break-in, you'll get an many opinions as there are people on this forum. I personally follow this advice, or something close to it. (I got similar advice after spending $8k for a complete engine build on my MKIII Supra Turbo with a professional race engine builder some years ago)

Congrats on a new sweet ride. I've had mine for 6K miles so far and love everything about the car. Try not to mod, cause it's addicting. I didn't think I would, but already got an intake, turbo inlet pipe, bov and a dashhawk. Welcome to the forums.

no way in hell would i leave the original factory fill oil for 5K miles. i dumped mine at 600 miles and started the patient on full synth right away. (lol2)

you might also want to consider installing a magnetic oil drain plug to catch metal filings. mine only had miniscule amounts, but hey, even that lil bit of shaved metal is outta there now.

And of course....welcome to the forum & enjoy your new toy! (drive)

Congrats and welcome to the club. The MS3 has a good balance of comfort, refinement, performance, and value.

Mazda uses a slightly different grade of motorcraft oil from the factory to 1) promote seating and 2) scrape out small amounts microscopic contaminants left over from the manufacturing process. I did mine at 3.7K, but you can change it out earlier if you want.

You'll find differing opinions on methods associated with break-in, frequency of fluid changes, fluid types, etc. Truth be told, it's hard to prove a "best method" over an internet board. So most members will simply say to use common sense tactics (like changing your oil a minimum of every 7500). Good luck and have fun!

Drive it like you stole it. If it's going to break you want it to break while it's under warranty. I changed my factory oil at 2209 miles with Mobil 1 Extended Performance and change it every 5000 miles with same. I have almost 23,000 miles on it now and it's not given me one problem yet, not even a rattle.

do they actually sell them as 2008.5? they didnt change the paperwork and mark it up to a 2009?
