Few questions about the cobb ap

I'm thinking of making my next purchase and I'm leaning towards the cobb ap, but had few questions. I only have minor mods and my car is pretty much my daily driver. The current mods I have are a cobb sri, cobb turbo inlet, and a turbosmart dual port bov. I've heard few people tell me that the cobb maps will only work with stock bpv. If I were to purchased the ap which map would better suit my car. Also how hard is it to monitor your data such as 0-60, boost, oil, air and fuel readings? Thanks for any help!

I'd run the Stage 1+ SF v.1.03 map with your mods.

I'd run the BOV in full recirc mode, as I would think it'd be less likely to cause problems that way.

It's really easy to monitor live data. You simply scroll through the settings on the AP's display and pick the one you want to look at. You can also set which parameters you want logged if you decide to log your live results.

 

[COBB Tuning]

The AccessPORT is a benefit for any car, even a stock one. That is, tuning is a benefit for even a stock car. Bolt on parts are great and all, but they don't in themselves really make power. Compressed air and fuel are what make power. Bolt-ons simply facilitate the engines ability to draw-in and expel more fuel and air.
The tune within the AccessPORT increases boost pressure and injector duty cycle (more fuel and air) and alters ignition timing, thusly making more power. You will notice a big increase in performance with a tune over just a bolt on part.

So if I run the Stage 1+ SF v.1.03 map I should be fine if I run the bov in full recirc. Also what should my boost readings and afr be. I'm still learning a lot about this car, all the mods I currently have were very easy to deal with, but once I'm getting into tuning and making sure my car is not damaged due to neewb mistakes! Your boost readings and AFR will be described in the map notes, but iirc afr should be in the 11.7:1 to 12:1 range but no more. Maybe even a bit richer. Boost depends but somewhere around 19psi.
A recirc valve just makes it so your car dosen't go rich between shifts which isn't really the end of the world but MAF cars just seem to run better with a recric valve then a VTA valve. The AP is a great tool and should give you great power and lots of performance.

Thanks for the info Travis!!! So with the mods I currently have the Stage 1+ SF v.1.03 map will be good for me? We get both 91 and 93 gas dwn here and I only put 93. Also I plan on buying the cobb down pipe on the stock exhaust. Would I remain with the same map or would I need to run a new one. I'm surprised you guys don't have a map for bothe the sri n the turbo inlet combo, a lot of people are running both. Once again thanks for all the helpful information guys.

So I'm getting my cobb ap, finally! It should come in by tomorrow, now I was reading on cobb's website and it says that I need a step colder plug to run any maps safely. For those of you who have it, is this true if I'm only going with Stage 1+ SF v.1.03 map? Also can I run the map on my car and get my plugs changed next week or should I change them before I load the map? Thanks!

you should be able to run for a little while with the stock plugs. The one-step colder plugs are to prevent detonation or knock. I highly recommend that you get them. I use the denso itv 22 because they come gapped within cobb's specifications.

Yeah, I already ordered them but probably won't get it until next week, so I'll install them next weekend. Also I'm gonna be running my turbosmart bov on full recirc, anyone think I should stay with the stock or the forge, I have all 3. I want to know which one will be the best don't really care about sound at this point, just don't really the forge, but I can live with it! Also with the spark plugs, cobb sri, cobb inlet, turbosmart bov, and the ap stage 1+ sf v.1.03, what kind of power should I be looking at hp/tq? Thanks for the help man!

no idea about power, everyones car is different. Your turbosmart valve should be fine. If you are holding too much boost switch to stock or learn how to use ATR.

Sorry for the noobish question, but are you saying that the ITV22 already comes pre-gapped at cobb's specs when purchased?

Call me ignorant, but I don't know what the gap specs the Denso comes with out of the box. Isn't the specs for AP supposed to be in between .024-.028?

ap specs are .026-.028. Denso claims their plugs are gapped to .032, but everyone that has them says they come at .028. mine were .028 and have worked flawlessly thus far.

Thanks. I just hate regapping spark plugs. Done it once with an iridium tip and it broke. I gotta be more careful, or maybe I just need the right equipment.

your not suposed to regap iridium or platnum plugs beacuse as you experinced it breaks off the coteing
